Sorcery: Energy Spells II
And here we've got the last four new spells from Pyramid #3-115. Ball of Annihilation creates a microscopic black hole. Blackbolt fires a beam of UV light. Microwave Jet can disable electronics. Starbolt fires a beam of X-rays.
Ball of Annihilation
Keywords: Area (Fixed).
Full Cost: 512 points for level 1 + 44
points/additional level.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack
(Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 10 seconds.
You may create a microscopic black
hole that can devour anything, including magic. This affects a single hex. To place
the area at a distance, use Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal range penalties,
but at +4 for affecting an area. The black hole is under caster’s control. The
caster can Concentrate to move the black hole at Move equal to the spell’s
level. The singularity can pass through anything except a stasis field.
If the ball intersects someone, the
victim must dodge and retreat to
avoid being hit. Parrying or blocking is useless. Someone hit by the ball will
suffer damage as a result of the tidal stresses and radiation it emits. The
ball inflicts 7d corrosion damage with an infinite armor divisor, plus 1 rad per
point of basic damage rolled. (See Radiation,
p. B435, for effects of being irradiated.) The area surrounding the Ball of
Annihilation is a one-yard no-mana area (although mana recovers if the ball
moves away).

[+44].
Blackbolt
Keywords: Missile, Obvious.
Full Cost: 8 points/level.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate
Attack (Beam) to hit.
Range: 300 yards.
Duration: Instantaneous.
You fire a beam coherent ultraviolet
light that does 1d(2) burning damage per level! This is a tight-beam burning
attack; see p. B399. It has 1/2D 150, Max 300.
Blackbolt is not a projectile
attack, and is thus not affected normally by spells like Reverse Missiles.
Deflect Energy protects against it normally.
Statistics:

Microwave Jet
Keywords: Jet, Obvious.
Full Cost: 66 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate
Attack (Beam) to hit.
Range: 10 yards.
Duration: One second.
A 10-yard jet of invisible
microwaves erupts from the caster’s hand. It can be dodged or blocked, but not
parried. Treat this as a long melee weapon rather than a ranged attack, and do not
apply range or speed penalties.
The jet deals 1 point of burning
damage. Any electronic systems (e.g., computers, robots, cars with electrical
ignitions, etc.) suffer an Affliction attack, requiring a HT + SM roll to avoid
being shut down for minutes equal to the margin of failure. DR protects, but
only if sealed. Upon regaining function, the subject is stunned (p. B420) and may roll vs. HT once per second to recover. The jet lasts until the beginning of the sorcerer’s next turn,
allowing the user to parry incoming attacks with it. If a parry is successful,
the jet automatically damages the incoming weapon or limb, much like a force
sword. Though this spell cannot be maintained, if cast every turn, the microwave
stream is not interrupted and the caster may continue to attack with it
normally.
