Treasure: Special Materials X

Treasure: Special Materials X

There is one topic that I haven't finished yet - converting D&D special materials to GURPS. I think I did all the Pathfinder ones and many of the D&D ones, but not all of them. So, it's time to get back to work, because I love me some materials.

Hazards/Equipment: Elemental Hazards

Hazards/Equipment: Elemental Hazards

Dragon Magazine #347 has a very interesting article called Elemental Hazards: An Exploration of the Inner Planes. The article describes various unique hazards, materials, and phenomena that can be encountered on the elemental planes. As a person who adores everything elemental-related, I must convert the article to GURPS. Such features make the Inner Planes feel very different and unique compared to the Material Plane. I've always entertained the idea of running a game set predominantly on an elemental plane, but it would probably be impossible to find players for that.

Equipment: Living Items

Equipment: Living Items

Complete Scoundrel for D&D 3.5 introduces a new equipment type - living items. This is something akin to the biogadgets from GURPS Bio-Tech. However, if we look into the other books, we may find similar exceptional items in Stormwrack and Magic of Faerun.

Treasure: Special Materials IX

A long time ago, I converted all the special materials from Pathfinder. Let's convert some special materials from D&D 3.5 too.

Treasure: Special Materials VIII

Treasure: Special Materials VIII

And here are the last 5 special materials from Pathfinder RPG, at least for now. Serpentstone is a programmable durable stone. Viridium is poisonous obsidian. Voidglass is an extraterrestrial crystal that protects against mental influence. Whipwood is flexible wooden material. Wyroot is a wooden material that drains life force.

Four more materials from Pathfinder RPG. Living steel is a regenerating metal. Silversheen is rust-immune silver. Singing steel is resistant to sonic attacks. Sunsilver items can blind enemies.

Treasure: Special Materials VI

Treasure: Special Materials VI

We're still not done with Pathfinder special materials. Here we have the rest of the skymetals. Glaucite is a quite boring alloy. Horacalcum is a time-bending metal. Inubrix is out of phase with iron and steel. Noqual is highly resistant to magic.

Treasure: Special Materials III

Treasure: Special Materials III

Here we have some more special materials from D&D and Pathfinder. Crystal, blood crystal, and deep crystal. I think you can see a theme going.

Treasure: Special Materials II

Treasure: Special Materials II

Three more special materials from Pathfinder RPG converted. Abysium is one of the fabled skymetals. It glows, but is poisonous to the wielder. Angelskin is poor as an armor, but conceals unholy auras, which is useful for dark priests, antipaladins, and such. Armor made of bulette plates is not any better than steel, but is prized by the collectors and dwarves in general.

Treasure: Special Materials

Treasure: Special Materials

One thing I liked in Dungeons and Dragons was the special materials. Some had neat qualities by themselves, some were used only to exploit the vulnerabilities of monsters. In my opinion, GURPS usually depends less on magic and magic items than D&D, so the special materials provide additional mundane options. There are some materials described already (silver, orichalcum, meteoric iron, and so on), but I decided to convert some of the most common ones from D&D. I really have no idea how to assign CF modifiers, so I was working on a hunch, but I would appreciate any suggestions.
