Alchemy: Forgotten Elixirs
I have looked through the books and found a few elixirs I haven't yet converted to my Metatronic Alchemy system. Ointment of Preservation of the Dead is based on the elixir from GURPS Banestorm - Abydos. Potion of Pain-Ease is based on the Pain-Ease elixir from Pyramid #3-115, and is unreasonable expensive. Potion of Partial Resurrection is based on the elixir from Pyramid #3-92. Flutter Antivenin, Potion of Pseudo-Invisibility, and Potion of Improved Stealth are based on elixirs from GURPS Creatures of the Night - Vol. 4.
Flutter Antivenin
When administered to someone under the effects
of the flutter devil’s venom, the subject does not take the damage later when
the creatures start hibernating.
Duration: Permanent, until the poison goes
away.
Form: Potion.
Cost: $510 (singular); $185 (5-batched).
Recipe: $51; 2 days; defaults to Alchemy-2.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage,
Flutter Antivenin, +10%; Extended Duration, Permanent, +90%; Magical, -10%;
Potion, -25%) [17]. Notes: «Flutter Antivenin» is Immunity to Flutter Devil’s
Venom (Magical, -10%) [1]. Extended Duration costs only 90%, because the Potion
meta-enhancement already includes Extended Duration, 30x, +60%.
Ointment of Preservation of the Dead
This colorless ointment makes the subject
corpse immune to rot and decay.
Duration: Permanent.
Form: Ointment.
Cost: $450 (singular); $165 (5-batched).
Recipe: $45; 2 days; defaults to Alchemy-2.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility,
Only on corpses, -40%; Advantage, Ointment of Preservation of the Dead, +50%;
Extended Duration, Permanent, +90%; Magical, -10%; Ointment, -45%) [15]. Notes:
«Ointment of Preservation of the Dead» is Immunity to Decay (Magical, -10%) [5].
Extended Duration costs only 90%, because the Ointment meta-enhancement already
includes Extended Duration, 30x, +60%.
Potion of Improved Stealth
This dark blue potion grants the imbiber
Silence 4 (p. B85) and increases his Move while climbing by 2.
Duration: 1 hour.
Form: Potion.
Cost: $930 (singular); $335 (5-batched).
Recipe: $93; 5 days; defaults to
Alchemy-4.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage,
Potion of Improved Stealth, +240%; Magical, -10%; Potion, -25%) [31]. Notes: «Potion
of Improved Stealth» is Silence 4 (Magical, -10%) [18] + Super Climbing 2
(Magical, -10%) [6].
Potion of Pain-Ease
A single dose of this elixir imposes the
euphoria condition (p. B428) for 1 hour. For the rest of the day, the
concoction acts as a total Mitigator vs. Chronic Pain, Chronic Depression, and
the depressed stage of the Manic-Depressive disadvantage. It is physically safe
(at least as far as one’s health goes) but psychologically addictive.
Duration: 1 day.
Form: Potion.
Cost: $4,860 (singular); $1,750
(5-batched).
Recipe: $486; 132 days; defaults to
Alchemy-17.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Euphoria, +30%;
Extended Duration on Euphoria, 30x, +60%; Extended Duration, 1,000x, +60%; Magical,
-10%; Negated Disadvantage, Chronic Depression, Chronic Pain, depressed stage
of Manic-Depressive, +1,400%; Potion, -25%) [162]. Notes: Extended Duration
costs only 60%, because the Potion meta-enhancement already includes Extended
Duration, 30x, +60%.
Potion of Partial Resurrection
This potion reanimates a dead body as a zombie
and attempts to reunite the owner’s soul with it. If the subject agrees to
return from the dead, the result is a free-willed undead version of that
individual – not a mindless servant. Only one try per corpse is allowed. As
with true Resurrection, the body must not have reached -10xHP. Anyone killed
while raised by this spell is truly dead. Future attempts at resurrection by
any means fail automatically.
Duration: Truly Permanent.
Form: Potion.
Cost: $1,500 (singular); $540
(5-batched).
Recipe: $150; 13 days; defaults to
Alchemy (Dark)-5.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Potion
of Partial Resurrection, +140%; Cosmic, Works on the dead, +50%; Extended
Duration, Truly Permanent, +240%; Magical, -10%; Potion, -25%) [50]. Notes: “Potion
of Partial Resurrection” is Alternate Form (Zombie; Magical, -10%) [14]. This
version of Cosmic means it only works
on the dead – not injured living creatures – and gives one try, ever. Extended
Duration costs only 240%, because the Potion meta-enhancement already includes
Extended Duration, 30x, +60%.
Potion of Pseudo-Invisibility
This white potion makes the subject
pseudo-invisible. The subject and anything he is carrying (up to the Medium
encumbrance) become difficult to notice via sight or hearing, all attempts take
a -10 penalty.
This effect ends if the subject
attacks any creature. For purposes of this effect, an attack includes any spell
targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe. Exactly who is a foe
depends on the invisible character's perceptions. Actions directed at
unattended objects do not break the spell. Causing harm indirectly is not an
attack. Thus, a pseudo-invisible being can open doors, talk, eat, climb stairs,
summon monsters and have them attack, cut the ropes holding a rope bridge while
enemies are on the bridge, remotely trigger traps, open a portcullis to release
attack dogs, and so forth. If the subject attacks directly, however, it
immediately becomes visible along with all his gear.
When the effect wears off naturally,
the penalty drops by -1 per minute until expired, giving him time to get to safety.
Duration: 9 minutes.
Form: Potion.
Cost: $2,190 (singular); $790
(5-batched).
Recipe: $219; 27 days; defaults to
Alchemy-8.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage,
Potion of Pseudo-Invisibility, +680%; Extended Duration, 3x, -40%; Magical,
-10%; Potion, -25%; Wears off gradually, +25%) [73]. Notes: «Potion of
Pseudo-Invisibility» is Chameleon 5 (Can Carry Objects, Medium, +50%; Dispels
after an attack, -20%; Dynamic, +40%; Magical, -10%) [40] + Silence 5 (Dispels
after an attack, -20%; Dynamic, +40%; Magical, -10%) [28]. Extended Duration
costs -40% because the Potion meta-enhancement already includes Extended
Duration, 30x, +60%.
