Slaads are chaotic-aligned outsiders that resemble humanoid toads. They have a peculiar way of reproduction and metamorphosis.

Implant: A red slaad that deals injury with a claw attack can inject an egg pellet into the opponent’s body. The affected creature must make a successful HT-3 roll to avoid implantation. Often the slaad implants an unconscious or otherwise helpless creature. The egg gestates for six days, then the host takes 2d toxic damage each hour for 13 cycles. Each cycle allows an additional HT-3 roll that prevents any further damage and destroys the egg pellet. Once the host loses 1/2 of their HP to this effect, they begin experiencing terrible pain (p. B428) until they heal above that threshold. Once the host loses 2/3 of their HP to this effect, they begin experiencing agony (p. B428) until they heal above that threshold. The egg pellet can be removed with a successful Surgery roll (failure deals 1d-1 injury), or a Cure Disease spell cast at a -5 penalty. If the host dies to this effect, the egg hatches into a blue slaad that eats its way out. If the host is an arcane spellcaster, the egg pellet instead hatches into a green slaad.
Stunning Croak: The red slaad can emit a croak that has a chance of stunning every creature within 8 yards. Each creature (slaads are exempt from this effect thanks to their immunity to noxious sonic effects) must make an HT toll to avoid getting stunned. Those who fail can roll again every second after that to recover. This is a hearing-based attack, targets with Protected Hearing resist at +5.
