Vile Diseases III

Vile Diseases III

And here we have the last vile diseases from Book of Vile Darkness.

Possession Infection
This disease causes intense emotions of sadness and despair and manifests as dark boils.
Statistics: Contact; HT-1 to resist; 1d/2 days delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with Chronic Depression (12) after loss of 1/3 HP; Sleepy (3/4) after loss of 1/2 HP; and Sleepy (7/8) and Sleepwalker (9) after loss of 2/3 HP); 24-hour cycle with eight cycles. Not contagious.

Sound Sickness
When a creature takes a major wound from sound and is at the same time exposed to great evil (such as the presence of an evil outsider or a desecrated area), it risks contacting sound sickness. Given to fits of shouting, the victim of this disease shows no visible illness, but he staggers about, barely able to keep to his feet.
Statistics: Blood; HT-3 to resist; 1 day delay; 1d toxic damage (with DX-4 after loss of 1/3 HP, coughing after loss of ½ HP, seizure after loss of all HP); 24-hour cycle with six cycles. Not contagious.

Soul Rot
Creatures that eat the flesh of an evil outsider can contract this horrible malady. Soul rot eats at the victim’s mind and soul until she dies a horrible, agonizing death full of pain and misery.
Statistics: Digestive; HT-2 to resist; 1 day delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with IQ-2 and moderate pain after loss of 1/3 HP, terrible pain after loss of ½ HP, agony after loss of all HP); 24-hour cycle with eight cycles. Not contagious.

Vile Rigidity
This infection at first seems a boon. The victim’s skin toughens, but then it starts hampering the victim’s movements.
Statistics: Contact; HT-1 to resist; 1 day delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with DR 1 (Tough Skin) after loss of 1/3 HP, DR 2 (Tough Skin) and DX-3 after loss of ½ HP, choking after loss of all HP); 24-hour cycle with six cycles. Not contagious.

Warp Touch
One of the worst effects of raw chaos and dissolution, the malady known as warp touch has a random set of effects that manifest when the victim loses 2/3 HP to the disease. This effect is permanent. It cannot be removed by effects that cure disease.

  1. Nice conversion! Some of these diseases will definately come in handy when my PC's decide to confront EHP and his summons in the Caves of Chaos in a few sessions =)
