Staff of Fiery Power
Staff of Fiery Power – as an enchanted item (using
Sorcery)
The
staff of fiery power is a very potent magic item, with offensive and defensive
abilities. It is usually topped with a glistening ruby, its shaft straight and
smooth. It has the following powers:

Rain of Fire (Improved; 16 yards) (1 charge) – Pyramid #3-63, p. 9;

Summon
Fire Elemental (1 charge);

Wall
of Fire 2 (1 charge);

Delayed
Blast Fireball 4 (2 charges).
The
staff of fiery power acts as a quarterstaff enchanted with Accuracy
2 (it gives the wielder +2 to skill rolls to hit). It
also passively grants the wielder and all his gear DR 20 against fire.
A
staff of fiery power can be used for a retributive strike, requiring it to be
broken by its wielder. (If this breaking of the staff is purposeful and
declared by the wielder, it can be performed as a Ready maneuver.) All charges
currently in the staff are instantly released in an 8-yard radius, dealing 12d
burning damage to everything in the area. The character breaking the staff has a
50% chance of traveling to another plane of existence, but if he does not, the
explosive release of spell energy destroys him. Once empty of charges, the
staff of power cannot be used for a retributive strike.
