Ultra-Tech: Brain Nanosymbionts
Nanosymbionts are described in GURPS Bio-Tech (pg. 164-167). There are quite many examples, but I thought that there's a lack of nanosymbionts that reside in the brain. Here's three more that I came up with, finding inspiration in various sources.
Encrypted Thought Processes (TL12)
These
nanosymbionts reside in brain tissue. Attaching themselves to the brain, they
redirect the neural signals, split them into several quantum threads, and then
collapse them back together, effectively preventing any kind of mind tampering.
Mind control and mind reading is completely impossible regardless of being
technological, psionic, magical, etc. On the other hand, a brain that hosts
such nanosymbionts cannot be uploaded, scanned, cannot interface with non-quantum
computers, and cannot communicate mentally or assume mental control of minds
that do not host such nanosymbionts.
As an additional effect, these nanosymbionts grant the host the Intuitive
Mathematician (p. B66) advantage.
Availability: $3,200/$160,000,
LC 3.
Statistics: Immunity
to Mind Control (Nuisance Effect, Cannot interface with non-quantum minds, -10%)
[27] + Intuitive Mathematician [5].
Mind Nanobackup (TL12)
These
nanosymbionts reside in brain tissue and contain a backup mind upload of the
host that is updated every hour or so. When the host dies, this nanosymbiont
swarm can be used to upload the uploaded mind to another body.
Availability: $2,000/$100,000,
LC 3.
Statistics: Extra
Life 1 (Requires Body, -20%) [20].
Nanowakers (TL11)
These
nanosymbionts reside in brain tissue and constantly stimulate the brain. The
host does not require any sleep and recovers from unconsciousness very quickly.
When determining the length of time the host remains unconscious for any
reason, divide by all times by 60.
Availability: $3,000/$150,000,
LC 4.
Statistics: Doesn’t
Sleep [20] + Recovery [10].
