Exalted Afflictions
Book of Exalted Deeds for D&D 3.5 presents a new category of supernatural diseases - the afflictions. They only affect evil creatures, whatever they are in your setting.
Consuming Passion
This is a magical affliction that
only affects evil creatures, such as evil outsiders or priests of evil deities.
It ignores disease immunity such creatures possess. Consuming passion causes a
creature to become covetous and paranoid as the affliction runs its course.
Statistics: Contact;
HT-2 to resist; 1d/2 days delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with Greed (12) after loss
of 1/3 HP; Greed (9) and Paranoia after loss of 1/2 HP; and Greed (6) and
Paranoia after loss of 2/3 HP); 12-hour cycle with six cycles. Mildly contagious.
Depraved Decadence
This is a magical affliction that
only affects evil creatures, such as evil outsiders or priests of evil deities.
It ignores disease immunity such creatures possess. Consuming passion causes a
creature to become covetous and paranoid as the affliction runs its course.
Statistics: Blood;
HT-2 to resist; 1d days delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with Gluttony (12) after loss
of 1/3 HP; Increased Consumption 1 and ST-2 after loss of 1/2 HP; and Increased
Consumption 2 and ST-5 after loss of 2/3 HP); 12-hour cycle with eight cycles. Not
contagious.
Eternal Torpor
This is a magical affliction that
only affects evil creatures, such as evil outsiders or priests of evil deities.
It ignores disease immunity such creatures possess. Creatures afflicted with
eternal torpor are constantly drowsy.
Statistics: Contact;
HT-1 to resist; 1 day delay; 1d-2 toxic damage (with Sleepy (1/2 of the time)
after loss of 1/3 HP; Sleepy (2/3 of the time) after loss of 1/2 HP; and Sleepy
(3/4 of the time) after loss of 2/3 HP); 24-hour cycle with eight cycles. Mildly
contagious.
Haunting Conscience
This is a magical affliction that
only affects evil creatures, such as evil outsiders or priests of evil deities.
It ignores disease immunity such creatures possess. Consuming passion causes a
creature to become covetous and paranoid as the affliction runs its course.
Statistics: Respiratory;
HT-2 to resist; 1d/2 days delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with Guilt Complex after
loss of 1/3 HP; Guilt Complex and Bad Temper (9) after loss of 1/2 HP; and Guilt
Complex, Bad Temper (9), and Berserk (9) after loss of 2/3 HP); 12-hour cycle
with ten cycles. Mildly contagious.
Pride In Vain
This is a magical affliction that
only affects evil creatures, such as evil outsiders or priests of evil deities.
It ignores disease immunity such creatures possess. Creatures afflicted with
pride in vain obsess about their status and appearance, eventually withdrawing
to the point of staring incessantly into a mirror.
Statistics: Blood;
HT-3 to resist; 1 day delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with Proud after loss of 1/3 HP;
Selfish (9) after loss of 1/2 HP; and Selfish (6) and Megalomania after loss of
2/3 HP); 24-hour cycle with eight cycles. Not contagious.
Raging Desire
This is a magical affliction that
only affects evil creatures, such as evil outsiders or priests of evil deities.
It ignores disease immunity such creatures possess. This affliction causes
insatiable sexual desire while preventing any possible fulfillment of that
desire.
Statistics: Respiratory;
HT-1 to resist; 1 day delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with Lecherousness (12) and
Killjoy after loss of 1/3 HP; Lecherousness (9) and Killjoy after loss of 1/2
HP; and Lecherousness (6) and Killjoy after loss of 2/3 HP); 12-hour cycle with
eight cycles. Mildly contagious.
