Treasure/Vehicle: Apparatus of the Crab

Treasure/Vehicle: Apparatus of the Crab

My favorite D&D game was heavily reliant on one highly unusual wondrous item from the Dungeon Master's Guide - the Apparatus of the Crab (note that its name is a bit different in the actual book). I was playing loose with the rules and modified the thing heavily. Here's my attempt at bringing this thing to GURPS, using GURPS Vehicles 3e and converting the numbers to 4e.

Apparatus of the crab is a mechanical wonder of engineering. This four-legged vehicle is slow, but sturdy. It is sealed and can operate underwater. Nonetheless, without any breathing aids, there's only enough air for 20 minutes for 2 occupants, or 40 minutes for 1 occupant. If used by coastal races that can breathe water, the interior is usually flooded with water.

The vehicle is operated by two persons. One looks through the periscopes and pulls levers the operate the legs and pincers. The other powers the muscle "bicycle power plant". This counts as paced running (p. B354) for the purpose of FP loss. The second operator also operates the diving controls.

The pincers have ST 14 and No Fine Manipulators. In addition, the mechanisms are awkward, and the operator operates the pincers at DX-4.
