Monsters: Fiendish Symbionts

Monsters: Fiendish Symbionts

Fiend Folio introduces two types of symbionts - fiendish and cerebral. A certain Dragon Magazine issue also has illithid symbionts that I've already converted, and a Dungeon Magazine issue has an additional fiendish symbiont. The entire concept of symbionts was expanded in an Eberron sourcebook, probably Magic of Eberron.
Even though I'm statting them up as creatures, they probably make more sense as gear or abilities bought with points. So, if you're playing a host of a symbiont, buy one as an Ally and spend points on the advantages and/or disadvantages the symbiont grants you.
Why is ghostly visage classified as a fiendish symbiont when it's an unrelated undead creature? No idea.

Enhance Constitution: Unlike a tapeworm, a gutworm does not attach itself to the intestinal wall, but swims freely around within the digestive tract, creating an uncomfortable sensation in the host. When infested like that, the host has a +2 bonus to HT and an additional +3 bonus to resist poison. However, he must consume twice as much food per day, and has Berserk (12).

Enhance Magic: The soul tick is an infernal arachnid that attaches itself to a host’s skin and feeds on its blood. When attached, it decreases the host’s HT by 1. In addition, it improves all rolls to cast necromantic spells or use necromantic abilities by 1, effectively addint Necromancy Talent 1, but it also grants the host the Twisted Mana Generator disadvantage (GURPS Thaumatology, p. 61) that works on all magic except necromancy.

Visage: At will, a ghostly visage can manifest a face anywhere on its host’s body, including over the host’s own face (the host’s vision is unaffected). This face looks corporeal and fleshy, but it is actually the visage’s incorporeal form. When manifesting a visage, the ghostly visage is susceptible to attacks separate from its host. When a creature sees the ghostly visage, it must roll a Fright Check. If a victim succeeds at his Fright Check, he will be unaffected by this ability for one hour. After using this ability, the visage is manifested for at least 5 seconds before it can go back inside the host.
Mind Shielding: When a ghostly visage is inhabiting its host, it grants it Immunity to Mind Control.

Traits: Appearance (Monstrous; Universal); Callous; Dark Vision; Dependency (Host; Weekly); Doesn’t Breathe; Doesn’t Eat or Drink; Doesn’t Sleep; Dread (Religious Symbols; 5 yards); Frightens Animals; High Pain Threshold; Immunity to Metabolic Hazards; Immunity to Mind Control (Affects Others 1); Injury Tolerance (Homogenous, No Blood); No Legs (Aerial); No Manipulators; Social Stigma (Dead); Unaging.

Supernatural Poison: While the chokesnake’s fangs are too weak to deal any significant damage, they can still inject poison through bare skin. This magical poison is potent enough that it deals 1d toxic damage even to creatures immune to poison, but not to constructs, undead, or any other creatures that are immune to metabolic hazards in general.

Traits: Anarchic Touch; Appearance (Hideous); Callous; Dependency (Host; Weekly); Doesn’t Eat or Drink; Doesn’t Sleep; Double-Jointed; Horizontal; Infravision; Injury Tolerance (No Neck); Mind Control (Magical; Melee Attack, Reach C); No Legs (Slithers); No Manipulators; Social Stigma (Monster); Telesend (Magical; Melee Attack, Reach C; Universal); Unaging; Unholy Touch.
