How to: Rogue Talents

How to: Rogue Talents

I've received a request to create some power-ups for the roguish type of characters. Since the class features of the D&D rogue are translated into Danger Sense, targeting vitals, and the Traps skill, I'll have to come up with something new, possibly taking inspiration from the rogue talents of the Pathfinder rogue.

Wow, this is lame. From the huge list of rogue talents I managed to make only three of them into power-ups. Most of the others are either very gamey or supernatural. In addition, I came up with a power-up based on a drow technique I've read in a Forgotten Realms novel.

     Ambuscading Grapple – 9 points
When you initiate a grapple on a surprised opponent who does not get an active defense against you, you may immediately strike him with the Knife skill.
Statistics: Extra Attack 1 (Accessibility, Only after initiating a grapple on a surprised opponent, -45%; Single Skill, Knife, -20%) [9].

    Bleeding Attack – 3 points/level
When attacking veins and arteries (GURPS Martial Arts, p. 137), increase your Striking ST by the level of this ability.
Statistics: Striking ST (Accessibility, Only on artery/vein hits, -40%) [3/level].

     Castling – 9 points/level
Your Dodge value is increased by this ability’s level when you are in the same hex with your ally of your SM or higher.
Statistics: Enhanced Dodge (Accessibility, Only when in the same hex with an ally, -40%) [9/level].

Drow Fake Death Attack – 33 points
The drow have developed a technique to capture sentries by cutting their neck in a way that paralyzes the victim, causing bleeding. This is unlikely to kill, but will make the victim appear dead. The attacker must wield a cutting weapon to execute this technique, targeting the neck of a living creature in close combat. He may opt to deal up to 1d cutting damage, but this damage cannot exceed the normal damage he can deal with his weapon. If any damage penetrates the victim’s DR, he must make a HT roll, at -1 per 2 points of injury or become paralyzed for (200 – HT) minutes (minimum 1 minute). After that, he is mute for 13 days. Anyone unfamiliar with this technique must win a Quick contest of Diagnosis vs. the victim’s HT to discover that he’s not dead, but only paralyzed.
Statistics: Cutting Attack 1d (Accessibility, Must target the neck, -20%; Cosmic, Feign Death, +50%; Extended Duration on Side Effect, Paralysis, 10x, +40%; Extended Duration on Side Effect, Mute, 1,000x, +120%; Melee Attack, Reach C, Cannot parry, -35%; Nuisance Effect, Maximum damage depends on ST, -5%; Requires a cutting weapon, -10%; Side Effect, Paralysis and Mute, +225%; Variable, +5%) [33].
