Sorcery: Poison Spells

Sorcery: Poison Spells

Some spells are going to be wonky. Alcohol Tolerance is a party wizard spell. Alter Poison changes the poison's type. Analyze Poison tells the caster details about the poison. Apply Poison instantly applies poison to a weapon.

Alcohol Tolerance
Keywords: Buff.
Full Cost: 25 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 1 day.

The subject’s body metabolizes alcohol with remarkable efficiency. He can drink steadily while the spell lasts with no major detrimental effects. Binging affects him as it would anyone else. He gets +2 on all HT rolls related to drinking.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Alcohol Tolerance, +10%; Extended Duration, 1,000x, +120%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [25]. Note: “Alcohol Tolerance” is Alcohol Tolerance (Magical, -10%) [1].

Alter Poison
Keywords: Buff.
Full Cost: 41 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Three minutes.

The caster casts the spell on a container with poison and changes the poison’s type. The types are – blood agent, contact agent, respiratory agent poison. If the caster makes a respiratory inhaled, it becomes gaseous or aerosol, affecting an area with a 2-yard radius for 10 seconds.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on poisons, -50%; Advantage, Alter Poison, +340%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [41]. Notes: “Alter Poison” is 34 points, per Enhances or Transforms an Existing Attack (GURPS Thaumatology: Sorcery, p. 11). Altering a poison’s type seems roughly equivalent to a transformative imbuement that requires Imbue 3.

Analyze Poison
Keywords: Information.
Full Cost: 12 points.
Casting Roll: None.
Range: Unlimited.
Duration: Instantaneous.

Identifies poisons affecting the subject, poisons innate to the subject, or poisons in a container. The caster must be able to see or touch the subject. The caster learns its origin (plant poison, fungal poison, animal poison, alchemical poison, etc.), type (contact agent, blood agent, respiratory agent, etc.), and its effects (amount of damage, number of cycles, symptoms, etc.).
Statistics: Detect (Poison; Analysis, +100%; Analysis Only, -50%; Sorcery, -15%; Touch- or Vision-Based, -15%) [12].

Apply Poison
Keywords: None.
Full Cost: 12 points.
Casting Roll: None.
Range: 10 yards.
Duration: Instantaneous.

The caster touches a source of poison (a flask or another container, or teeth dripping with venom, etc.) and instantly applies the poison to the target weapon. Note that one dose of poison is required to envenom the tip of a piercing or impaling weapon. Poisoning the edge of a weapon, so that a cutting attack can deliver it, requires three doses per yard of reach. This also works on natural weapons, such as teeth or claws.
Statistics: Telekinesis 1 (One Task, Applying poison, -60%; Reduced Time 10, +200%; Sorcery, -15%) [12].
