    Pincers (12): thrust 2d-1 cutting (KYOS: 3d-1 cutting), Reach C-1. The hammerclaw can either nip and let go or hold on and grapple the victim in addition to injuring him. Either is an attack that takes full hit location penalties – not halved for grappling. Treat this attack as a bite for these purposes (see Teeth on page 115 of GURPS Martial Arts for details). The pincers give +2 with tasks that require a firm grip (including climbing).
    Sonic Pulse (12): Once every five seconds, a hammerclaw can snap its claws to produce a powerful sonic pulse. This pulse deals 2d non-incendiary burning in a cone-shaped area. Cones use special rules; see Area and Spreading Attacks (p. B413). The cone has a maximum width of 5 yards at the maximum range of 10 yards. Works identically in air and underwater, but is blocked by Silence. Targets stuck by this attack must make an HT roll, at -1 per 2 points of penetrating damage, or be physically stunned. On subsequent turns, they can roll HT to recover.

    Anaesthetic Bite (10): thrust 1d-5 cutting (KYOS: 1d-8 cutting), Reach C. If a giant leech hits with a bite attack, it latches onto the opponent’s body. An attached leech is effectively grappling its prey. A creature bitten by a giant leech must succeed on Per-5 roll to notice the attack. Once the leech has bitten through the victim’s DR, it can drain 1 HP per second from him. For every 3 HP stolen, the leech heals 1 HP or 1 FP (its choice). It cannot raise its HP or FP above normal this way. The leech very rarely uses this ability offensively, typically only draining 1 HP per day to satisfy its hunger for blood.
    Red Ache: Any creature that takes damage from the giant leech’s bite risks being infected by red ache. This is a blood infection with an incubation period of 1d days, after which it deals 1d-2 toxic damage every day for eight days. Each instance of damage can be resisted with HT-2. After losing 1/3 HP to this poison, the victim gets a -2 penalty to ST until he heals above this threshold. After losing 1/2 HP to this poison, the victim gets a -4 penalty to ST until he heals above this threshold. This disease is mildly contagious, as per Illness (p. B442).

    Drowning Kiss (12): A nereid can kiss another creature with a melee attack. This needs to hit unprotected face (the roll takes the normal -5 hit location penalty). If it succeeds, the victim must make an HT roll. If he loses, the nereid fills the his lungs with water. The subject loses his ability to breathe or speak for 30 seconds. He may do nothing but drop. While the drowning endures, he suffers the effects of suffocation (see Suffocation, p. B436). After that the subject is stunned (p. B420) and may roll vs. HT once per second to recover. The subjects with Doesn’t Breathe, Doesn’t Breathe (Gills), or Injury Tolerance (Homogenous) are immune to this ability!
