Fireball (12): 2d burning in a 2-yard-radius area. Roll at +4 to target a hex. Ranged attack (Acc 3, Range 20). Costs 3 FP.
Fire Absorption: The giant strider has DR 20 against fire, and is immune to noxious fire effects. Each point of damage this DR stops turns into one character point that the giant strider can use to heal itself. These points are stored into a pool that can contain up to 20 character points. Once this pool is full, each point of DR will still stop one point of fire damage, but will not convert it into a character point. The giant strider does not have to use stored points immediately. It loses absorbed points – unused ones first – at the rate of one point per second. It loses enhanced abilities as the points drain away. Restoring one HP drains 2 stored points immediately. Such healing is permanent. Only HP in excess of the giant strider’s usual scores drains away. The giant strider cannot absorb damage from its own abilities (for example, if its fireball).

If the roll is failed, the infected creature takes 1d-1 toxic damage a day later, and then every day for 5 more days. Each instance of damage can be negated by a HT-3 roll. When the victim loses 2/3 HP to this disease, he gains a -1 penalty to DX and ST until healed above this threshold.
