Sorcery: Ageing Spells

Sorcery: Ageing Spells

The write-up I had for Age ended up being very expensive, as there seems to be only two RAW ways to make somebody age - to afflict uncontrollable Unaging with Age Control or use Leech but somehow eliminate the HP gain. This blogpost on Salty Grognard introduces a new innate attack type - an ageing attack. I guess it's time to make some age-related spells to make traits, such as Extended Lifespan and Unaging be more than fluff point drain.

Age (Variant)
Keywords: Resisted (HT).
Full Cost: 19 points.
Casting Roll: Will.
Range: Unlimited.
Duration: Instantaneous.

You make the living subject 1 year older.
Statistics: Ageing Attack 1 (Accessibility, Only on living creatures, -10%; Based on HT, +20%; Malediction 2, +150%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [19].

Burden of Time
Keywords: Area (Leveled).
Full Cost: 80 points for level 1 + 9 points/additional level.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 10 seconds; see text.

This spell causes the target area to wither everyone contained within. To place the effect at a distance, use Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal range penalties, but at +4 for affecting an area. The initial attack roll places the effect.
All living creatures within the area age 1d-1 years each second they remain in the area. This aging is temporary. Every time the victim would heal 1 HP but is at full HP, he can instead roll against his or her "Original HT" meaning that if the victim had 13 HT originally, but lost a couple to aging rolls he would still roll against 13 not his "new" HT. Success returns 1 year, failure and critical failure do nothing.
Statistics: Ageing Attack 1d-1 (Accessibility, Only on living creatures, -10%; Area Effect, 2 yards, +50%; Cosmic, Irresistible Attack, +300%; No Signature, +20%; Persistent, +40%; Sorcery, -15%; Temporary, -50%; Variable, Area, +5%) [80]. Additional levels add Area Effect (+50%) to the advantage [+9].

Decrepify
Keywords: Resisted (HT).
Full Cost: 40 points/level.
Casting Roll: Will. Use DX or unarmed combat skills to hit.
Range: Touch.
Duration: Instantaneous.

The caster must touch the subject to cast this spell. The living subject permanently ages 1d years per level of this spell.
Statistics: Ageing Attack 1d (Accessibility, Only on living beings, -10%; Based on HT, +20%; Melee Attack, Reach C, Cannot Parry, -35%; Malediction 1, +100%; Sorcery, 15%) [40/level].

Progeria
Keywords: Resisted (HT).
Full Cost: 29 points for level 1 + 14 points/additional level.
Casting Roll: Will.
Range: Unlimited.
Duration: Special.

You curse the living subject with premature aging. When he fails to resist this spell and each day after that for 9 days, he becomes 1 year older. Each additional level of this spell increases the number of cycles by 10. This spell cannot be dispelled by Dispel Magic, but Remove Curse or an equivalent effect removes it.
Statistics: Ageing Attack 1 (Accessibility, Only on living creatures, -10%; Based on HT, +20%; Cosmic, Immune to Dispel Magic, +50%; Cyclic, 1 day, 9 cycles, Curse Removal, +90%; Malediction 2, +150%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [29]. Each additional level increases the number of cycles by 10 [+14].

Protection from Ageing
Keywords: Buff.
Full Cost: 26 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 3 minutes.

The subject gains the Unaging (p. B95) advantage for the duration of this spell.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Protection from Ageing, +140%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [26]. Note: “Protection from Ageing” is Unaging (Magical, -10%) [14].

Reaper’s Embrace

Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 3 minutes.

The subject begins to radiate a black aura that ages enemies who touch his body 1 year.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Reaper’s Embrace, +310%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, 15%) [43]. Note: “Reaper’s Embrace” is Ageing Attack 1 (Aura, +80%; Cosmic, Irresistible Attack, +300%; Magical, -10%; Melee Attack, Reach C, -30%) [31].

Temporary Ageing
Keywords: Resisted (HT).
Full Cost: 16 points.
Casting Roll: Will.
Range: Unlimited.
Duration: Instantaneous; see text.

You temporarily make the living subject 1 year older.
Statistics: Ageing Attack 1 (Accessibility, Only on living creatures, -10%; Based on HT, +20%; Malediction 2, +150%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%; Temporary, -50%) [16].
