Ultra-Tech: Singularity Beams

Ultra-Tech: Singularity Beams

I had an idea of a superscience beam weapon that harnesses the power of the black holes. Let's try to manifest this idea as a new beam option for the Blaster and Laser Design System from Pyramid #3-37.

Add the following changes to the options found in the article.

Beam
Singularity Beam (TL11^): These weapons contain a small generator of a microscopic black hole the energy of which is focused through an array of exotic material lenses to produce a beam that pulls, irradiates, and partially disintegrates the target. They deal corrosion radiation damage with linked crushing damage with the double knockback and no wounding modifiers. Knockback is directed towards the shooter, not away from them.

Damage
Singularity pistols deal from 2d to 3.5d, a singularity rifle 4d to 7d, and heavier weapons even more damage. However, the linked crushing knockback effect is twice that. For the purpose of all calculations, use the damage dice of the corrosion damage effect.

Example: Let's design a simple singularity rifle that deals 6d cor rad damage with linked 12d cr dkb nw. It's going to be on the heavier side. Focal array is medium, generator is semi-auto (RoF 3).

Empty Weight
D is the dice of corrosion damage. E is 2.5. I want them to be heavy and bulky. Corrosion damage is very strong after all! And slamming a target against the cover they hiding behind sounds like fun.

Example: Empty Weight = (6/2.5)^3 x 1 x 1.25 = 17.28 lbs. Let's round it up to 17.3 lbs.

Accuracy
Beamer - Acc 2
Pistol - Acc 4
Rifle - Acc 8
Cannon - Acc 12

Example: This is a rifle, so we have Acc 8.

Range
Rb = 10 for singularity beams.

Example: 1/2D Range = 6 x 6 x 10 x 1 = 360 yards. Max Range = 360 x 3 = 1,080 yards. This is rounded up to 1,100 yards.

Example: This rifle will be powered by three TL11 C cells. A single such cell will give the rifle 1,080/6^3 = 5 shots. Thus, three cells will give it 15 shots. That's not many! Superscience power cells are recommended.

Cost

Bc is $2,000.

Example: Cost = 17.3 x 2,000 x 1 = $34,600.

Now let's see the final statblock!

  1. Oh, I like that. Kinda reminds me of the gravity gun from BLAME!

I feel like Ultra-Tech kinda played it too safe with the super science weapons so more options for space opera super tech is always welcomed.
