Treasure: Figurines of Wondrous Power
When I was playing D&D, I did not notice that there are so many summoning items. The figurines of wondrous power are probably the most iconic ones. There are many other variants outside of the Dungeon Master's Guide, but we will leave them be for now. The marble elephant is based on the template from GURPS Animalia.

figurine of wondrous power appears to be a miniature statuette of a creature an
inch or so high. When the figurine is tossed down and the correct command word
spoken, it becomes a living creature (worth 75% or less of your point value).
The creature obeys and serves its owner for up to 6 hours.
If
the creature was dismissed or dispelled, or if the duration ran out, then you
have to wait five minutes before you can summon one again. If a figurine of
wondrous power is broken or destroyed in its statuette form, it is forever
ruined. All magic is lost, its power departed. If slain in animal form, the
figurine simply reverts to a statuette that can be used again at a later time,
but no earlier than one day after such death.
Small
figurines of wondrous power come in the following forms – bronze griffon, ebony
fly, golden lions (usually come in pair), ivory goats (usually come in threes –
the goat of traveling, the goat of travail, and the goat of terror), obsidian
steed, onyx dog, serpentine owl, and silver raven.

Astral Projection (10): The ivory goat of travail can leave its body behind, unconscious, while
projecting its spirit to the Astral Plane by making an IQ roll and spending 1
FP. While there, it cannot cast spells or otherwise affect the world in any
meaningful way. The spirit form is visible, but insubstantial. This ability can
be maintained indefinitely, provided the ivory goat of travail continues paying
1 FP per minute, but the body’s need to eat, drink, sleep, etc. effectively
limits the duration to a day or so – longer if the body body is left with
friends, or otherwise cared for.
On the Astral Plane, projectors (but
not native astral denizens) are attached to their body by a slim silver cord,
which fades to invisible after about 20 feet. The cord always “points” in the
direction of the projector’s body.
Astral Projection takes 10 seconds
to activate. The ivory goat of travail can speed this up by taking -1 to skill
for each second omitted (maximum -10).
Etherealness:
The ivory goat of travail can become ethereal by taking a Concentrate maneuver.
The ivory goat of travail slips into the space between worlds and becomes
intangible, passing through solid objects as though they weren’t there. In this
state the ivory goat of travail makes no noise when she moves. The ivory goat
of travail can perceive the tangible world, and speak normally to those within
it, but it cannot pick up normal objects or affect them in any way.
Physical and energy attacks cannot
harm the ivory goat of travail, but it is still vulnerable to psionic and
(nonmaterial) magical attacks. Likewise, its physical and energy attacks cannot
affect physical opponents. Its psi abilities and magic spells can affect the
physical world, but at -3 to all skill rolls.
Although the ivory goat of travail can
pass through solids, it must still breathe. When moving through a solid object,
treat this as if it was swimming underwater for purposes of suffocation. It
cannot materialize inside a solid object.
The ivory goat of travail can carry
objects up to its light encumbrance while insubstantial, including clothing and
armor. They become physical if dropped. It cannot materialize these objects
inside other objects or characters. The ivory goat of travail still weighs
nothing, so it doesn’t leave footprints and can walk on surfaces that wouldn’t
support a solid body, such as the surface of a body of water.
Smoke (13): The ivory goat of travail may fill a two-yard-radius area within 10
yards with bad smelling smoke. This gives -3 to all vision and Infravision rolls made through
it. To place the cloud at a distance, it uses Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal
range penalties, but at +4 for affecting an area. The initial attack roll
places the effect. It then drifts from that point with the wind. Every creature
that inhales the smoke, begins to cough (is at -3 to DX and -1 to IQ, and
cannot use Stealth) for 3 minutes, if it fails a HT roll.

Plane Shift (10): The obsidian steed can transport itself, its rider, and everything they
are carrying to another plane of existence by making an IQ+7 roll and spending
1 FP. Plane shift takes 10 seconds to activate. The obsidian steed can speed
this up by taking -1 to the roll for each second omitted (maximum -10).
Etherealness:
The obsidian steed can become ethereal by taking a Concentrate maneuver. The obsidian
steed slips into the space between worlds and becomes intangible, passing
through solid objects as though they weren’t there. In this state the obsidian
steed makes no noise when she moves. The obsidian steed can perceive the
tangible world, and speak normally to those within it, but it cannot pick up
normal objects or affect them in any way.
Physical and energy attacks cannot
harm the obsidian steed, but it is still vulnerable to psionic and
(nonmaterial) magical attacks. Likewise, its physical and energy attacks cannot
affect physical opponents. Its psi abilities and magic spells can affect the
physical world, but at -3 to all skill rolls.
Although the obsidian steed can pass
through solids, it must still breathe. When moving through a solid object,
treat this as if it was swimming underwater for purposes of suffocation. It cannot
materialize inside a solid object.
The obsidian steed can carry objects
up to its light encumbrance and its
rider while insubstantial, including clothing and armor. They become physical
if dropped. It cannot materialize these objects inside other objects or
characters. The obsidian steed still weighs nothing, so it doesn’t leave
footprints and can walk on surfaces that wouldn’t support a solid body, such as
the surface of a body of water.
