Treasure: Bottles, Flasks, and Decanters
We're quite close to having all wondrous items from the Dungeon Master's Guide for D&D 3.5 converted. This post will detail four various magical bottles, flasks, and decanters.
Decanter of
Endless Water
Decanter of Endless Water – as an enchanted item
(using Sorcery)
If
the stopper is removed from this ordinary-looking flask and a command word
spoken, an amount of fresh or salt water pours out. Separate command words
determine the type as well as the volume and velocity. Effectively, this magic
item can duplicate the effects of the Create
Water 1 (no casting roll required) and Water
Jet 2 spells (use Liquid Projector (Water Cannon) to hit).
Statistics: Create
Water 1 (Cosmic, No die roll required, +100%; Magical, -10%; Reduced Fatigue
Cost 1, +20%; Requires a command word, -10%) [10 / 5 = 2] + Water
Jet 2 (Requires a command word, -10%) [40]. Bottle, x0.35; 15 EP.
TL3
Price: 2 x ($70 + 15 x $320) = $9,740.
TL8 Price: 2 x ($1,400 + 15 x $1,180)
= $38,200.

Efreeti Bottle
Efreeti Bottle – as an enchanted item (using Sorcery)
This
item is typically fashioned of brass or bronze, with a lead stopper bearing
special seals. A thin stream of smoke is often seen issuing from it. The bottle
can be opened once per day. When opened, the efreeti
imprisoned within issues from the bottle instantly. The creature is friendly
and obeys, to the best of its ability, for 10 minutes the one who summoned it.
The point cost of the efreeti must be 150% of the user’s point total or lower. Each
use costs 1 FP.
Statistics: Ally (Efreeti;
Built on 150%; Constantly; Conjured, +100%; Costs 1 FP, -5%; Limited Use,
1/day, -40%; Magical, -10%; Maximum Duration, 10 minutes, -40%) [42]. Bottle,

Eversmoking
Bottle
Eversmoking Bottle – as an enchanted item (using
Sorcery)
This
metal urn is identical in appearance to an efreeti bottle, except that it does
nothing but smoke. The amount of smoke is great if the stopper is pulled out,
pouring from the bottle and obscuring vision. The radius of the affected area
starts at 1 yard, then increases by 1 for each second, up to the maximum of 16
yards. This area remains smoke-filled until the eversmoking bottle is stoppered,
and for 10 seconds after that. The bottle must be resealed by a command word,
after which the smoke dissipates normally. The smoke gives -5 to all vision
rolls made through it, and is unpleasant to breathe (but causes no actual ill
effects). Having the bottle open costs 1 FP per 10 seconds.
Statistics: Obscure
Vision 5 (Area Effect, 16 yards, +150%; Costs Fatigue, 1 FP, -5%; Emanation,
-20%; Magical, -10%; Persistent, +40%; Requires a command word, -10%) [25]. Bottle,
x0.35; 9 EP.
TL3
Price: 2 x ($50 + 9 x $320) = $5,860.
TL8 Price: 2 x ($1,000 + 9 x $1,180)
= $23,240.

Iron Flask
Iron Flask – as an enchanted item (using Sorcery)
These
special containers are typically inlaid with runes of silver and stoppered by a
brass plug bearing a seal engraved with sigils, glyphs, and special symbols. When
the user speaks the command word, he can force any creature from another plane
into the container, if he wins in a Quick Contest of Will with it. The user
rolls at -1 per yard of distance to the target. Only one creature at a time can
be so contained. Loosing the stopper frees the captured creature.
The
stopped can be loosed once per day. When loosed, the imprisoned outsider issues
from the bottle instantly. The creature is friendly and obeys, to the best of its
ability, for 1 hour the one who summoned it. The point cost of the creature
must be 150% of the user’s point total or lower. Each use costs 1 FP.
Statistics: Affliction
1 (Will; Accessibility, Only on outsiders, -30%; Based on Will, +20%; Costs
Fatigue, 1 FP, -5%; Heart Attack, Variant, +300%; Magical, -10%; Malediction 1,

hour, -10%; Summoned, +100%) [54]. Bottle, x0.35; 23 EP.
TL3
Price: 2 x ($150 + 23 x $320) = $15,020.
TL8 Price: 2 x ($3,000 + 23 x $1,180)
= $60,280.
