Monster: Remorhaz

The remorhaz is an arctic predator that shares its hunting grounds with frost worms, dining on frost giant, muskoxen, and caribou. It saves itself from cold not by developing an innate resistance to cold, but by radiating extreme heat that fries everything nearby. However, it can stop doing so to hide under snow and ice and surprise the prey.

Heat: Anything that touches the remorhaz takes 3d burning damage from extreme heat.
Swallow Whole: The remorhaz can try to swallow a grabbed opponent of SM+2 or smaller size. To accomplish that, it must first bite to grapple (GURPS Martial Arts, p. 115). On the next turn, and each successive turn, roll a Quick Contest: the remorhaz’s ST vs. the victim’s ST or HT, whichever is higher. If the remorhaz wins, the victim takes damage equal to the remorhaz’s margin of victory and is swallowed; otherwise, he takes no damage. Treath being swallowed as pinned (p. B370). This pin is completely hands free. In addition to taking the normal constriction damage, the swallowed victim also takes 3d burning damage per second. Victims with abilities such as Innate Attack and Spines can hit the remorhaz automatically while swallowed. The remorhaz gets no active defense against internal attacks. The victim can escape the pin as usual, climbing back up the remorhaz’s throat.
A swallowed creature can cut its way out by dealing enough damage to cripple the digestive tract (the “virtual arm” that is pinning it) – 28 in the case of the remorhaz. The remorhaz has internal DR 2 with the Tough Skin limitation. Once the creature exits, muscular action closes the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out.
The remorhaz’s gullet can hold 1 SM+2 creature, 2 SM+1 creatures, 4 SM+0 creatures, 8 SM-1 creatures, 16 SM-2 creatures, 32 SM-3 creatures, and so on.
