Sea Diseases
And here's the last post with Stormwrack conversions for now.
Coral Scratch
Characters who take damage from contact
with coral must make HT rolls or contract coral scratch.
Statistics: Blood;
HT to resist; 1d hours delay; 1d-2 toxic damage (with DX-2 after loss of 1/3 HP
and DX-4 after loss of 1/2 HP); 8-hour cycle with five cycles. Not contagious.
Sea Rot
Usually found in the worst sort of
sargasso, sea rot is caused by contact with infected creatures.
Statistics: Contact;
HT-3 to resist; 1 day delay; 1d-2 toxic damage (with ST-2 and HT-2 after loss
of 1/3 HP; ST-4 and HT-4 after loss of ½ HP; and terrible pain after loss of
2/3 HP); 12-hour cycle with six cycles. Highly contagious.
Sea Sores
Contracted from eating or drinking
food or water of poor quality, such as that found in the stores of poorly
provisioned ships.
Statistics: Digestive;
HT-1 to resist; 1d/2 days delay; 1d-1 toxic damage (with ST-2 and nausea after
loss of 1/3 HP, ST-4 and nausea after loss of ½ HP); 24-hour cycle with eight
cycles. Not contagious.
Suntouch
Caused by heat damage in dead calm.
Characters who lost 2/3 HP to suntouch are rendered insane, acquiring an overpowering
compulsion to immerse themselves in the sea and/or drink seawater.
Statistics: Exposure;
HT-2 to resist; 1 day delay; 1d-2 toxic damage (with IQ-2 and HT-2 after loss
of 1/3 HP, IQ-3 and HT-3 after loss of ½ HP, Obsession (Immersion in seawater
or drinking sea water) after loss of 2/3 HP); 24-hour cycle with eight cycles. Not
contagious.
