    Rotting Aura: When the creature is not flying, rivulets of vile corruption stream from an angel of decay’s body, constantly regenerating and renewing a pool of odiferous rot all around the creature. An angel of decay’s pool of rot has a radius of 4 yards. Any creature standing on the ground within that area must make an HT-4 roll every second or take 1d toxic damage, ignoring DR (unless Sealed). Once the creature loses 1/3 of its HP to this ability, it becomes nauseated until it heals above this threshold.

    Death Gaze (12): An atropal scion’s death gaze spreads out in a cone 15 yards long and 15 yards wide at the end. It cannot select who is affected; all potential victims must be looking at it. Roll a Quick Contest of the atropal scion’s Will versus the target’s HT, using normal range penalties. If the atropal scion wins, the target suffers a heart attack. Someone looking at a reflection of an atropal scion is not affected by its gaze. Fighting while looking in a mirror is at a -5 penalty; attacks made with closed eyes are at -10.
    Negative Energy Aura: An atropal scion emanates an aura of negative energy, which empowers nearby undead. Any undead creature within 32 yards of an atropal scion gets a +2 bonus to ST, HT, and Will. If the creature leaves the aura’s area, the effects linger for margin of failure seconds.

    Punch (14): thrust 1d crushing (KYOS: 1d+1 crushing) + 1d-2 follow-up fatigue damage from cold (treat FP lost to this attack identically to FP lost to the cold for all purposes, notably recovery (see Cold, p. B430)). Reach C.
    Chill Aura: The bleakborn always emits cold. The temperature changes at a rate of 4° per second up to a minimum of 40° below the ambient temperature in a four-yard radius around the bleakborn. This ability never does damage directly.
    Fire Absorption: The bleakborn has DR 20 against fire, is immune to noxious fire effects. Each point of damage this DR stops turns into one character point that the bleakborn can use to heal itself. These points are stored into a pool that can contain up to 20 character points. Once this pool is full, each point of DR will still stop one point of fire damage, but will not convert it into a character point. The bleakborn does not have to use stored points immediately. It loses absorbed points – unused ones first – at the rate of one point per second. It loses enhanced abilities as the points drain away. Restoring one HP drains 2 stored points immediately. Such healing is permanent. Only HP in excess of the bleakborn’s usual scores drains away. The bleakborn cannot absorb damage from its own abilities.
