Low-Tech Beam Weapons

Low-Tech Beam Weapons

Wait a damn second. If the power cell capacity follows increases with TL and has a defined progression, can't we reverse it and get TL3 or TL4 power cells? Now that we also have this post that tells us to multiply the weapon weight for weapons of lower TL than the TL of its introduction (I will not scale the weight further, keeping it at the maximum of 32x increase), can't we make low-tech beam weapons? Let's try and see the results.

In addition to all of the above, I will remove all the ultra-tech attachments, such as HUD link, recognition grip, diagnostic computer. Also, I will make them of Cheap quality and halve their accuracy. Power cells will be non-rechargeable. The TL decrease couple with the Cheap quality will also mean that all these weapons will have Malf 11.

Am I crazy, or does it look... reasonable? Considering how bad Malf 11 is and how few shots you can get off, this does not really look that wild (aside from plasma weapons, maybe). I guess you could use these for games set in worlds such as Might & Magic, for example.

P.S. Table formatting is extraordinarily awful on blogspot. Blogspot is awful in general.

  1. Looks about right to me. Now my hungry gamers will have more to chew on. Thanks for the ideas!

  2. These are awesome! Though it takes a lot of looking at them closely to really get the hang of them.

  3. Ye old blasters, nice. Also yes, Blogspot is crap. One of these days I'm gonna jump ship to another platform. I just need to stop putting off learning how to transfer my stuff.
