Sorcery: Dominions Spells

Some battlefield spells from Dominions 5. Instantaenous spells with Bombardment are fun.
  
    Blade Wind
    Keywords: Area (Leveled), Missile, Obvious.
    Full Cost: 16 points for level 1 + 5 points/additional level.
    Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Projectile) to aim.
    Range: 100 yards.
    Duration: Instantaneous.
 
    The caster throws a huge swarm of whirling blades towards his enemies. Use Innate Attack (Projectile), at +4, to center the area; see Scatter (p. B414) if you miss. Everyone in the area is attacked with an effective skill of 12, modified only for their SM. Anyone hit takes 1d+1 cutting damage. This is an overhead attack – victims may raise their shields as cover, at the risk of damaging them (p. B484).
    Statistics: Cutting Attack 1d+1 (Area Effect, 2 yards, +50%; Bombardment, Skill-12, -10%; Overhead, +30%; Sorcery, -15%; Variable, Area, +5%) [16]. Additional levels add more Area Effect (+50%) [+5].
  
    Fire Flies
    Keywords: Area (Leveled), Missile, Obvious.
    Full Cost: 7 points for level 1 + 2 points/additional level.
    Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Projectile) to aim.
    Range: 100 yards.
    Duration: Instantaneous.
 
    The caster throws a swarm of burning sparks towards his enemies. Use Innate Attack (Projectile), at +4, to center the area; see Scatter (p. B414) if you miss. Everyone in the area is attacked with an effective skill of 12, modified only for their SM. Anyone hit takes 1d-1 burning damage. This is an overhead attack – victims may raise their shields as cover, at the risk of damaging them (p. B484).

    Flying Shards

    Full Cost: 7 points for level 1 + 2 points/additional level.
    Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Projectile) to aim.
    Range: 100 yards.
    Duration: Instantaneous.

Everyone in the area is attacked with an effective skill of 12, modified only for their SM. Anyone hit takes 1d-1 crushing damage. This is an overhead attack – victims may raise their shields as cover, at the risk of damaging them (p. B484).

    Gifts from Heavens
    Keywords: Area (Fixed), Missile.
    Full Cost: 75 points or 200 points.
    Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to hit (see text).
    Range: 100 yards.
    Duration: Instantaneous.
 
    You cause a meteor, glowing with astral fire, plummet from the Stellar Sphere onto the battlefield. This spell can only be used outdoors. Unlike most other spells, Gifts from Heavens has Acc 0, and is very difficult to aim properly. Use Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal range penalties, at +4 for affecting an area; but treat your DX for this roll as if it was 8 (or one less than usual, if already 8 or worse), and your maximum skill before the +4 bonus is 10.
    The meteor becomes visible and audible immediately after casting, but it falls with a delay of two seconds. The basic (75-point) version does 10d crushing incendiary damage in a 8-yard-radius area. The improved (200-point) version does 20d crushing incendiary damage in a 16-yard-radius area. Divide damage by the distance in yards between the target and the center of the effect. Since the meteor falls from above, it bypasses any cover that does not provide overhead protection, and negates attack penalties to hit crouching, kneeling, sitting, or prone targets.
    Statistics: Crushing Attack 10d (Area Effect, 8 yards, +150%; Delay, 2 seconds, +0%; Dissipation, -50%; Environmental, Outdoors, -20%; Inaccurate 3, -15%; Incendiary, +10%; Overhead, +30%; Sorcery, -15%; Untrainable, -40%) [75]. The improved version increases the damage to 20d and improves Area Effect to 16 yards, +200% [+125].
