Pantheon: Other Racial Gods I

Here we have some more deities for less common races in my setting. Again, a big thank you to AuldDragon for providing extended lore for deities that feel quite lacking otherwise.

Eadro

Home plane: Elemental Plane of Water

Domain (-20%): animal spells, water spells, protection spells

Worshipers: locathah, merfolk, tritons

Eadro is the patron deity of locathah, merfolk, and tritons. All three races claim him as their creator, each pointing to itself as the most perfect example of sea folk. He appears as a tall and perfect specimen of his worshipers’ race.

            Dogma: The locathah, merfolk, and tritons believe their deity washes their gills with the Water of Life before dropping them into the Current of Existence. Eadro is aloof from other races, caring only about the merfolk, locathah, and tritons he created. He watches them carefully, knowing the potential for conflict between them. He also keeps his eye on the races of evil that threaten them from without.

Sekolah

Symbol: a shark’s dorsal fin cutting the water

Worshipers: sahuagins

Sekolah is the patron of the sahuagin, although he is not their creator. He represents the base drive to hunt and unleash savage brutality on anything in his path, and he has instilled these virtues into nearly every element of sahuagin society. His many wanderings have spread the sea devil across the many worlds of the Prime Material Plane. He demands strict obedience from his worshipers and in return promises them the viciousness, strength, and fertility to dominate the undersea lands. He appears as a giant great white shark.

            Dogma: Self-sufficiency and obedience are the greatest qualities sahuagin can possess. There’s a place for everyone, and everyone should remain in their place. Success equals virtue. Only the inadequate fail. Meat is meat. Truth is what sahuagin remember.

Whale Mother, The

Worshipers: darfellans

The Whale Mother is the patron deity of darfellans, honored as the creator of sea creatures and especially of porpoises, whales, seals, and other marine mammals. She is depicted as a delicate, pale-skinned woman, surrounded by currents of light and vitality, who rides a vast whale the size of a large island. Its spoutings produce the rainstorms that frequently lash the darfellans' chill coasts, and the waving of its flukes stirs the ocean currents. Her followers do not build temples but conduct community ceremonies at important times of the year.

            Dogma: The Whale Mother teaches the importance of family bonds, protection of the community and ecosystem of the sea.

  

Ilsensine

Ilsensine is the god of the mind flayers and the patron of all who enslave others’ thoughts. It appears as a massive, disembodied brain with an emerald glow and countless tentacles stretching off into the darkness.

Dogma: Ilsensine demands that mind flayers enslave and consume the “cattle” (other races) that surround them. Its clerics are often slavemasters, controlling living minds. Ilsensine promises power and dominion to all who follow it, so sometimes creatures other than mind flayers (especially evil psions) will form cults dedicated to the deity.

  

Zuoken

Symbol: a striking fist

Home plane: Astral Plane

Domain (-20%): body control spells, communication and empathy spells, mind control spells

Portfolio: monks, mental powers

Worshipers: psions, monks

Once a human martial artist, Zuoken attained such mental and physical perfection that he ascended into god-hood several centuries ago. His clerics watch over psionic creatures, safeguarding them from harm and offering psionic training to all who show aptitude.

Dogma: Zuoken encourages his followers to be disciplined, serene masters of their minds and bodies.

Balador

Worshipers: werebears

Balador, referred to as Father Bear by his petitioners, is the patron deity of werebears and a deity of protection over nature.

Cegilune

Symbol: an overflowing, black cauldron

Home plane: Hades

Domain (-10%): gate spells, spirit spells, mind control spells, body control spells

Portfolio: hags, larvae, the moon

Worshipers: hags

Cegilune is the patron goddess and supposed mother of the hags, as well as the goddess of similar fell folk and the moon. Still boiling with spite over an ancient crime, the dark lunar deity is driven by vindictiveness, clinging to her divinity only to exact bitter vengeance on those she believed betrayed her.

Diinkarazan

Demigod

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Symbol: a ring with seven gems

Worshipers: derro

Diinkarazan is a lost demigod of the derro and twin brother of their main deity, Diirinka. Known as The Mad God, he is trapped in the Abyss and tormented by nightmarish visions as punishment for both his and his brother's crime.

Ferrix

Ferrix is the goddess of female weretigers. Ferrix is said to be a very curious deity, but is not wise enough to distinguish between useful and insignificant information. She is also said to be particularly vain, and can become quick to anger if mocked.

Gzemnid

Gzemnid is the beholder god of gases, fogs, obscurement and deception in the Underdark.

Worshipers: ixzan

Ilxendren is the patron deity of the ixzan. The deity of the ixzan is chaotic evil, and is described to be very arrogant and scornful of other creatures (except aboleths, whom it commended). It commands the ixzan, and potentially other creatures, to wreak havoc amongst other marine life.

Kaelthiere

Kaelthiere is the deity of forging in primordial fires. He is the patron of the salamanders, efreet, and azer.

Koriel

Portfolio: learning, protection, vigilance against evil, ki-rins

Worshipers: ki-rins

Koriel is the patron god of the ki-rin, a vigilant deity that constantly roamed the many skies of the multiverse. He is the creator of the ki-rin, and much like his creations, the flying god of fate's appearance is a sign of a momentous importance.

Maanzecorian

Maanzecorian (meaning "creed leader" or "creed liaison" in Undercommon), is an entity that embodies the mind flayer concept of complete comprehension of knowledge. The illithid god of secret knowledge was one of the first casualties in Tenebrous's search for his wand. One of his avatars has survived and accumulated enough power to become a very weak demigod.

Quorlinn

Worshipers: kenku

Quorlinn is a lesser deity of the kenku race. His priests are the most cunning and deceitful of kenku kind. They work as spies, mastermind kidnapping operations, and set up traps and ambushes, but also work to rescue kenku slaves, which they are bound to do. Cells and spy rings of priests gather up and hoard all kinds of secrets, though most of them are petty, and refuse to share with other groups with childish stubbornness. Priests of Quorlin are also capable thieves.

Parrafaire

Parrafaire is the demigod patron of nagas and son of the greater goddess Shekinester, the Naga Queen. The Naga Prince is a power of tricks and traps, an exemplar of vigilance, and a guardian of magical secrets and locations deep below the surface of the world.

Psilofyr

Psilofyr is the benevolent deity of the myconid race, known as the Carrion King for his philosophy of renewal through decomposition.

Ramenos

Ramenos is the bizarre god of the bullywugs, a dormant deity who seems to exist purely for the sake of doing so. Called the Sleeping God for his perpetual lethargy, his power slowly decreased over the span of millennia.

Remnis

Remnis is the god of giant eagles, a watchful guardian of his patron race who provides them with his guidance and protection. With his sight stretching as far as the horizon, the Great Lord of Eagles awaits the call to action by other gods of the skies, ready to come when needed and render his aid to like-minded deities.

Sixin
