Sorcery: Death Spells II
And even more death spells. Assassin's Weapon turns any weapon into an instakill tool. Butcher slaughters and dresses out an animal or an unlucky human. Death's Banquet introduces a deadly poison into food. Dimensional Dissection sends parts of the victim to a different time, place, or plane of existence.
Assassin’s Weapon
Keywords: Weapon Buff.
Full Cost: 90 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate
Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Three minutes.
Turns a melee weapon or a round of
ammunition (e.g., arrow or bullet) into a vehicle of death. Cannot be cast on a
missile weapon such as a bow or a gun – only on its ammo. Any living being hit
be an Assassin’s Weapon must resist with HT. Failure means a fatal wound
causing immediate death, however improbable. Check for the weapon’s mundane
effects (penetration, wounding, etc.) only after the resistance roll.
Statistics:
Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on weapons, -20%; Advantage, Assassin’s
Weapon, +800%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature,
+20%; Sorcery, -15%) [90]. Note: “Assassin’s
Weapon” is Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on living beings, -10%;
Cosmic, Irresistible Attack, +300%; Disadvantage, Fragile (Enhanced Unnatural),
+100%; Follow-Up, This weapon, +0%; Heart Attack, +300%; Magical, -10%; No
Signature, +20%) [80].
Butcher
Keywords: Resisted (HT).
Full Cost: 76 points.
Casting Roll: Will.
Range: Unlimited.
Duration: Instantaneous.
This spell painlessly slaughters an
animal and then separates the carcass into handy packages. Subjects with IQ 5
or less resist with HT. Failure means they die painlessly. As the corpse
collapses to the ground, it falls into neat piles of meat, hide, bones, guts,
and so on.
Subjects with IQ 6+ add (IQ - 5) to
their resistance roll: HT+1 at IQ 6, HT+2 at IQ 7, and so on. Average humans, with
IQ 10, resist at HT+5 and are almost
immune. Dead bodies can’t resist. On them, this is just a costly Prepare Game
variant.
Statistics:
Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on living creatures, -10%; Disadvantage,
Fragile (Enhanced Unnatural), +100%; Heart Attack, +300%; Link, +10%;
Malediction 2, +150%; No Signature, +20%; Nuisance Effect, IQ Bonuses to
resistance rolls, -20%; Sorcery, ‑15%) [64] + Telekinesis
1 (Link, +10%; Magical, -10%; One Task, Prepare Game, -60%; Reduced Time 10,
+200%) [12]. Note: See GURPS Thaumatology: Sorcery, p. 14 for
the One Task limitation. Here, Reduced Time is used to shorten a 10-minute process
to one second, which was chosen because it costs the same as an Average
technique to buy off the -10 for “instant use.”
Death’s Banquet
Keywords: Buff.
Full Cost: 81 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate
Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Permanent.
Introduces a deadly physical poison
into food. This poison remains indefinitely, but can be detected by Test Food. Anyone
eating the poisoned food must make a HT roll. On a failed roll, he is seized by
painful stomach cramps, taking 8d toxic damage; he is at -3 to DX and IQ for 1
hour. The poison is not magical, Magic Resistance does not help.
Statistics: Affliction
1 (HT; Accessibility, Can only be cast into food, -30%; Advantage, Death’s
Banquet, +570%; Extended Duration, Permanent, +150%; Fixed Duration, +0%;
Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [81]. Note: “Death’s Banquet” is Affliction 1
(HT; Aura, +80%; Attribute Penalty, DX-3, IQ-3, +60%; Blood Agent, -40%;
Extended Duration, 100x, +80%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Link, +10%; Melee Attack,
Reach C, -30%; No Signature, +20%) [28] + Toxic Attack 8d (Aura, +80%; Blood
Agent, -40%; Link, +10%; Melee Attack, Reach C, -30%; Resistible, HT, -30%) [29].
Dimensional Dissection
Keywords: Resisted (HT or Will).
Full Cost: 61 points.
Casting Roll: Will.
Range: Unlimited.
Duration: Instantaneous.
Attempts to send some of the subject
to another place, time, or plane of existence. The target resists with the
better of HT or Will. Failure means random chunks go elsewhere. This is
instantly fatal!
This spell can affect anyone with a
physical body. Subjects who have the Duplication advantage and an unused Dupe
can sacrifice one copy to ensure the survival of the rest. This is instead of
trying to resist. It costs a Dupe but guarantees survival.
If this spell critically fails, the
caster becomes the point of arrival for a Dimensional Dissection spell cast
elsewhere in creation. A forceful jet of gore with roughly half the mass of his
intended subject blasts him for dice of crushing damage equal to the would-be
victim’s HP/2, rounded up. No active defense is possible.
Statistics:
Affliction 1 (HT or Will; Accessibility, Only on beings with a physical body,
-5%; Disadvantage, Fragile (Enhanced Unnatural), +100%; Heart Attack, Variant,
+300%; Malediction 2, +150%; No Signature, +20%; Nuisance Effect, Backlash,
-30%; Nuisance Effect, Multiple ways to resist, -10%; Sorcery, ‑15%) [61].
