Alchemy: Dungeon Poisons II
GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 8 - Treasure Tables has three new poisons. Here are their conversions to the Metatronic Alchemy system.
Bane
Rather than a specific poison, this is actually
a series of poisons, each of which targets a specific race or type of monster.
Others suffer no ill effects (for example, elves are harmed by elfbane but take
no damage from dwarfbane, while the opposite is true of dwarves). A living victim
of the appropriate must make an immediate
HT roll to resist. He takes 3d toxic damage on a failed roll or 1d+1 on a
successful roll.
Form: Follow-Up Poison.
Cost: $150 (singular); $55 (5-batched).
Recipe: $15; 1 day; defaults to Poisons-1.
Statistics: Toxic Attack 2d-1 (Accessibility,
Only on creatures of the appropriate type, -40%; Follow-Up Poison, -20%; Link,
+10%; Resistible, HT, -30%) [2] + Toxic Attack 1d+1 (Accessibility, Only on
creatures of the appropriate type, -40%; Follow-Up Poison, -20%; Link, +10%) [3].
Fire Toxin
This poison does little actual damage but
causes lasting pain. Roll vs. HT or suffer from severe pain (see p. B428) for a
half-hour. On a critical failure or a failure by 5 or more, the pain increases
to terrible.
Form: Follow-Up Poison.
Cost: $540 (singular); $195 (5-batched).
Recipe: $54; 2 days; defaults to
Poisons-2.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Fixed Duration,
+0%; Extended Duration, 10x, +40%; Follow-Up Poison, -20%; Secondary Terrible
Pain, +12%; Severe Pain, +40%) [18].
Knockout Gas
This is a respiratory agent made from giant-lotus
pollen. This poison flask can be thrown (range is STx3.5). Hitting a hard surface,
it breaks, creating a cloud of poison gas in a 2-yard radius. The cloud
persists for 10 seconds and may drift with the wind. Any creature that inhales
the gas makes an HT roll to resist. On failure, the creature becomes drowsy
(see p. B428) for a half-hour (roll vs. Will to remain conscious at the end of
the period). On a failure by 5 or more or a critical failure, the target falls
asleep instead. He can be woken up normally after 30 minutes have passed.
