Sorcery: Time Spells IV
Some more time spells. Minor Paradox is a "replay last second" spell. Paradox alters an action performed in the past. It ended up being cheaper than Minor Paradox. Slow Metabolism allows the subject to eat less and resist metabolic hazards. Tell Age is a useful spell for archaeologists.
Minor Paradox
Keywords: None.
Full Cost: 90 points.
Casting Roll: IQ.
Range: Self.
Duration: Instantaneous.
When this spell is cast, the caster
may take back an action performed within the last second or insert an
additional action if timing permits. The caster could take back something said
or decide not to kiss the princess. Essentially, this is a “replay last second”
spell. The caster and the GM may either work out a reasonable course of events,
or they could simply replay the previous turn, if this spell was used in
combat. Note that the caster cannot “rewind” time and take the exact same
action he did before. For example, he cannot attack an orc’s face, miss, cast
this spell, and try again, but he can cast this spell to attack a different hit
location. Additionally, the caster cannot cast this spell as a “new action” and
cannot replay the same second more than once using this spell.
The caster can carry up to his Heavy
Load when he casts Minor Paradox.
Statistics:
Jumper (Time; Extra Carrying Capacity, Heavy, +30%; Faster Concentration 10, +50%;
Improved, +10%; Limited Jump, 1 second backwards, -80%; Magical, ‑10%; Nuisance Effect, Cannot repeat the same action, -5%; Nuisance
Effect, Cannot replay the same second twice, -5%) [90]. Note: The Improved
enhancement removes the auto-fail on 14+.
Paradox
Keywords: None.
Full Cost: 45 points.
Casting Roll: IQ.
Range: Self.
Duration: Instantaneous.
When this spell is cast, the caster
may alter a minor event from his past that may affect the present. Such an
event could be having bought a cask of ale instead of a cast of oil, or
deciding that, instead of insulting the king, the caster insulted the king’s
daughter (as if that would make the situation any better).
The event to be changed should not
be more than an hour in duration, and it must be something that was personally
done by the caster, or something the caster could have influenced. Something
should always be given up when this spell is used, the caster cannot simply add
or remove an action. The caster can change an event as far back as one day.
It is the GM’s call as to how the
change proceeds forward, if at all. Often, things will not work out as neatly
as the caster might hope.
To cast this spell, the caster must
visualize his new action, concentrate for 10 seconds, and make a IQ roll. He
may hurry the casting, but his roll will be at -1 per second of concentration
omitted (-10 to cast with no preparation at all).
The caster can carry up to his Heavy
Load when he casts Paradox.
This spell can only be cast once per
day.
Statistics: Jumper (Time; Accessibility, Only to alter a short action, -10%; Extra Carrying Capacity, Heavy, +30%; Improved, +10%; Limited Jump, 1 day backwards, -20%; Limited Use, 1/day, -40%; Magical, 10%; Nuisance Effect, Cannot direct the actions, the events proceed as the GM says, -10%; Nuisance Effect, Must give up an action, -5%) [45]. Note: The Improved enhancement removes the auto-fail on 14+.
Slow Metabolism
Keywords: Buff.
Full Cost: 37 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate
Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 1 day.
This subject requires 1/3 as much
food and water for a day. Additionally, he gains a +3 bonus on HT rolls made to
resist metabolic hazards.

+120%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery,
-15%) [37]. Note: “Slow Metabolism” is Reduced Consumption 2 (Magical, -10%) [4]
+ Resistant to Metabolic Hazards (+3) (Magical, -10%) [9].
Tell Age
Keywords: Information.
Full Cost: 13 points.
Casting Roll: IQ.
Range: Touch.
Duration: Instantaneous.
This spell tells the caster age of
the subject. On a failure, the caster does not learn anything, and cannot
attempt to learn age of the same subject again for 24 hours.
Statistics: Psychometry
(Accessibility, Only to learn age, -30%; Active Only, -20%; Sensitive, +30%; Sorcery,
-15%) [13].
