Sorcery: Cloud Spells
There are many spells in fiction that produce clouds with some additional effects. What these spells have in common is that they affect an area, obscure vision, and drift with the wind. Fog Cloud simply obscures vision. Hallucinogenic Cloud causes hallucinations. Sleep Cloud makes the creatures caught within it to fall asleep. Stinking Cloud produces a horrible smell that makes the victims cough.
Fog Cloud
Keywords: Area (Leveled).
Full Cost: 13 points for level 1 + 4
points/additional level.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack
(Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 10 seconds.
You may fill a two-yard-radius area
with fog. This gives -4 to all vision rolls made through it. To place the gas cloud
at a distance, use Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal range penalties, but at +4
for affecting an area. The initial attack roll places the effect. It then
drifts from that point with the wind.
Statistics:
Obscure Vision 4 (Drifting, +20%; Ranged, +50%; Sorcery, -15%; Variable, Area,
+5%) [13]. Further levels add Area Effect (+50%) to the advantage [+4].
Hallucinogenic Cloud
Keywords: Area (Leveled).
Full Cost: 42 points for level 1 + 8
points/additional level.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack
(Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 10 seconds.
You may fill a two-yard-radius area
with hallucinogenic gases. This gives -3 to all vision rolls made through it.
To place the gas cloud at a distance, use Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal
range penalties, but at +4 for affecting an area. The initial attack roll
places the effect. It then drifts from that point with the wind.
Additionally, every creature that
inhales the gas, begins to hallucinate (B429) for 3 minutes, if it fails a HT roll. After that, it is stunned until it makes a successful HT roll.

Duration: 10 seconds.
You may fill a two-yard-radius area
with green sleep gas. This gives -3 to all vision rolls made through it. To place
the cloud at a distance, use Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal range penalties,
but at +4 for affecting an area. The initial attack roll places the effect. It
then drifts from that point with the wind.
Additionally, every creature that
inhales the cloud, falls asleep for 3 minutes, if it fails a HT roll. After
this, it can be woken normally, but it will not necessarily wake up right away,
especially if already tired. Upon waking up, each subject is stunned (p. B420)
and may roll vs. HT once per second to recover.

You may fill a two-yard-radius area
with bad smelling smoke. This gives -3 to all vision rolls made through it. To place
the cloud at a distance, use Innate Attack (Gaze), with normal range penalties,
but at +4 for affecting an area. The initial attack roll places the effect. It
then drifts from that point with the wind.
Additionally, every creature that
inhales the cloud, begins to cough (is at -3 to DX and -1 to IQ, and cannot use
Stealth) for 3 minutes, if it fails a HT roll.
