Pantheon: Babylonian Pantheon
The Great Wheel cosmology of D&D houses not only the made up deities (some of whom were inspired by the ones from the real world mythos), but also several pantheons directly borrowed from the real world mythos. On Hallowed Ground for Planescape describes them, albeit shortly. I have a need for the Babylonian pantheon, so here's the conversion.
Anu
Greater deity
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Symbol: gold sun partially blocked by gray cloud
Home plane: Mechanus
Portfolio: sky, the Babylonian pantheon
Domain (-30%): air spells, earth spells
Worshipers: nobles, commoners
Anu is regarded as the creator of the heavens and the earth, and it is his strict guidance that keeps the other deities of the pantheon in check. Some say that that lesser deities are considering pooling their strength to overthrow him.
Anu’s grim justice imposes harsh sentences for even the smallest infractions. His servants strive to avoid breaking his laws.
Anshar
Lesser deity
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Symbol: black sphere
Home plane: Pandemonium
Portfolio: darkness, night
Domain (-40%): darkness spells, spells that induce anger, fear, or madness
Worshipers: rebels
Anshar is a moody, easily angered god, who is said to have lost a great portion of his power to Anu.
Druaga
Lesser deity
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Symbol: ruby mace
Home plane: Baator
Portfolio: Baatezu summoning
Domain (-40%): fire spells, devil summoning spells
Worshipers: diabolists, schemers
Druaga is god of schemers and devil summoners. Living in Baator, he decides which fiend to send to his follower that is summoning one.
Girru
Lesser deity
Alignment: Lawful Good
Symbol: axe wrapped in fire
Home plane: Celestia
Portfolio: fire, justice
Domain (-40%): fire spells
Worshipers: paladins, nobles
Girru is a good of fire and righteousness who despises the taint of evil. He sends priests and archons on missions to destroy sources of malevolence. He knows that evil is necessary to achieve a balance in the multiverse, but he fights evil to his last breath.
Ishtar
Greater deity
Alignment: Neutral
Symbol: female hand grasping blue crystal rod
Home plane: Elysium
Portfolio: love, war
Domain (-30%): healing spells, protection and warning spells
Worshipers: paladins, nobles
Ishtar appears as a beautiful woman, and wherever she moves, a carpet of flowers and grass springs up behind her. Despite being the goddess of war, Ishtar engenders life by her very existence and advocates war only when it furthers the cause of life.
Marduk
Greater deity
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Symbol: silvery net
Home plane: Arcadia
Portfolio: cities, wind, thunder, storms, rain
Domain (-30%): weather spells, making and breaking spells
Worshipers: nobles, commoners, artisans
Marduk is a god concerned with justice and law. Marduk usually appears as a four-eyed, four-eared human with reddish skin, and he shoots fire from his mouth when he speaks.
Nergal
Lesser deity
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Symbol: dark man holding a black shield
Home plane: Hades
Portfolio: the underworld, the dead
Domain (-40%): necromantic spells
Worshipers: necromancers
Nergal is a plotting god of the dead that is concerned with spreading his power and influence. He is known to have helped to murder the god Enki in cold blood.
Ramman
Lesser deity
Alignment: Neutral
Symbol: lightning bolt through a storm cloud
Home plane: Outlands
Portfolio: storms, thunder
Domain (-40%): weather spells
Worshipers: farmers
Ramman is a deity of storms and rain, worshiped by farmers.
