Treasure: Sundering Sword

Treasure: Sundering Sword

An adventurer is presented with various dangers - monsters, traps, curses. Some of them can be overcome with sheer strength - slaying a monster, breaking a door, or bending the bars. But what should an adventurer do when he's got not enough strength? He can target a monster's vitals or skull to deal more injury, but he can't do the same against a door. Let's help him!

Let's make a sword that deals additional damage to objects. It can be used to smash through a door, slash through iron bars, or break a foe's weapon easily. First, we should make a weapon buff spell using Sorcery.

Sundering Weapon
Keywords: Weapon Buff.
Full Cost: 18 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Three minutes.

Once cast upon a weapon, this spell causes it to do an additional 2d of follow-up (p. B105) crushing damage when attacking objects (unattended, wielded, or worn).
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on weapons, -20%; Advantage, Sundering Weapon, +80%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [18]. Note: “Sundering Weapon” is Crushing Attack 2d (Accessibility, Only against objects, -40%; Follow-Up, This weapon, +0%; Magical, -10%) [8].

And now we enchant a longsword with this spell.
Sundering Sword

This longsword (LT66) can be granted the ability to deal extra damage to objects by the wielder for 1 hour by taking a Concentrate maneuver and spending 1 FP. Once granted this ability, the sword will deal an additional 2d of follow-up (p. B105) crushing damage when attacking objects (unattended, wielded, or worn). SM-4, DR 6, HP 12, 4 lbs. LC4.
Statistics: Crushing Attack 2d (Accessibility, Only against objects, -40%; Follow-Up, This weapon, +0%; Magical, -10%) [5]. Always On; Weapon, Metal, x0.45; 3 EP.
            TL3 Price: 2 x ($30 + 3 x $320) = $1,980.
            TL8 Price: 2 x ($600 + 3 x $1180) = $8,280.
