Sorcery: Weapon Buffs VI

Sorcery: Weapon Buffs VI

We've been over the elemental transformation, so now it's time for more mundane transformations. Blunt/Duodimensional/Monodimensional/Piercing Weapon converts the damage type to crushing/cutting/impaling/piercing, respectively.

Blunt Weapon
Keywords: Weapon Buff.
Full Cost: 32 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Three minutes.

This spell blunts the weapon, converting the damage of a non-crushing attack from its usual damage type to crushing. This lets improves knockback (p. B378) and blunt trauma (p. B379), and lets a deadlier weapon “merely” beat a victim senseless.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on weapons, -20%; Advantage, Blunt Weapon, +220%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [32]. Notes: “Blunt Weapon” is 22 points, per Enhances or Transforms an Existing Attack (GURPS Thaumatology: Sorcery, p. 11). This spell is based on the Crushing Strike imbuement skill.

Duodimensional Weapon
Keywords: Weapon Buff.
Full Cost: 36 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Three minutes.

This spell transforms the weapon into a two-dimensional version of itself, converting the damage of a non-cutting attack from its usual damage type to cutting.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on weapons, -20%; Advantage, Duodimensional Weapon, +260%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [36]. Notes: “Duodimensional Weapon” is 26 points, per Enhances or Transforms an Existing Attack (GURPS Thaumatology: Sorcery, p. 11). This spell is based on the Cutting Strike imbuement skill.

Monodimensional Weapon
Keywords: Weapon Buff.
Full Cost: 44 points or 84 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Three minutes.

This spell transforms the weapon into a one-dimensional version of itself, converting the damage of a non-impaling attack from its usual damage type to impaling. The basic (44-point) version gives -1 per die on the basic damage roll, however. The improved (84-point) version lets the weapon deal its full damage.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on weapons, -20%; Advantage, Monodimensional Weapon, +340%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [44]. Notes: “Monodimensional Weapon” is 34 points, per Enhances or Transforms an Existing Attack (GURPS Thaumatology: Sorcery, p. 11). The improved version buys off a -5 penalty [+40]. This spell is based on the Impaling Strike imbuement skill.

Piercing Weapon
Keywords: Weapon Buff.
Full Cost: 36 points for level 1 + 16 points/additional level.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Three minutes.

Gives the weapon a narrow-but-blunt profile by reshaping it, converting the damage of a non-piercing attack from its ordinary damage type to piercing. This improves blunt trauma for most non-crushing attacks and allows crushing attacks to target vital areas. The class of piercing damage depends on the spell level.
Level
Cost
Damage Type
1

Small piercing or piercing (caster’s choice)
2
52 points
Large piercing
3

Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on weapons, -20%; Advantage, Piercing Weapon, +260%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [36]. Notes: “Piercing Weapon” is 26 points, per Enhances or Transforms an Existing Attack (GURPS Thaumatology: Sorcery, p. 11). Additional levels remove -2 or -5 in penalties [+16 or +40]. This spell is based on the Piercing Strike imbuement skill.
