Sorcery: Secret Spells II
And the rest of the secret spells from Pyramid #3-76. Mass Coolness and Mass Shade are area versions of Coolness and Shade. Self-Repairing makes an object regenerate its HP. Transfigure Object is Transform Object with a longer duration.
Mass Coolness
Keywords: Area (Leveled), Buff.
Full Cost: 36 points for level 1 + 5
points/additional level.
Casting Roll: Will. Use Innate
Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Five hours.
When cast on an area, this spell
keeps the subjects cool. In game terms, it raises their threshold for Heat (p.
B434) – which is 80°F for most humans – by (HTx10)°F. This allows an average HT
10 human to be comfortable up to 180°F. This protection does not prevent
sunburn and cannot shield against heat-based attacks; it affects only the
ambient temperature. The caster can omit any subjects from the effect.
If a particular subject possesses DR
with no Tough Skin limitation, the sorcerer’s casting roll is penalized by
their DR as well as the normal range penalties. Calculate effective DR for this
penalty according to the rules for Large-Area
Injury (p. B400).
Statistics:
Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Mass Coolness, +90%; Area Effect, 2 yards, +50%; Extended
Duration, 100x, +80%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No
Signature, +20%; Selective Area, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [36]. Notes: “Mass Coolness” is Temperature
Tolerance 10 (Magical, -10%) [9], applied to the upper limit. Additional levels
add Area Effect (+50%) [+5]. As a special effect, the DR subtracts from the
casting roll rather than forcing a resistance roll.
Mass Shade
Keywords: Area (Leveled), Buff.
Full Cost: 28 points for level 1 + 5
points/additional level.
Casting Roll: Will. Use Innate
Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 90 minutes.
When cast on an area, this spell
provides the subjects with modest shade. This prevents sunburn and reduces
effective temperature by 10°F when sunlight is a significant source of heat. It
also reduces Vision penalties for glare by -1 and provides +1 to HT rolls to
resist flashes, dazzle lasers, etc. The caster can omit any subjects from the
effect.
If a particular subject possesses DR
with no Tough Skin limitation, the sorcerer’s casting roll is penalized by
their DR as well as the normal range penalties. Calculate effective DR for this
penalty according to the rules for Large-Area
Injury (p. B400).
Statistics:
Affliction 1 (HT; Advantages, Mass Shade, +30%; Area Effect, 2 yards, +50%; Extended
Duration, 30x, +60%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No
Signature, +20%; Selective Area, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [28]. Notes: “Mass Shade” is Immunity to
Sunburn (Magical, -10%) [1] + Robust Vision (Magical, -10%) [1] +Temparature
Tolerance 1 (Hot; Magical, -10%) [1]. Temperature Tolerance reduces heat by a
flat 10°F rather than being based on HT. Additional levels add Area Effect
(+50%) [+5]. As a special effect, the DR subtracts from the casting roll rather
than forcing a resistance roll.
Self-Repairing
Keywords: Buff.
Full Cost: 44 points.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate
Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 8 hours.
The subject item heals 1 HP per
hour.
Statistics:
Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on objects, -10%; Advantage, Self-Repairing,
+230%; Extended Duration, 300x, +100%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D,
x10, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, ‑15%) [44]. Note: “Self-Repairing” is Regeneration (Regular; Magical,
-10%) [23].
Transfigure Object
Keywords: Buff.
Full Cost: 103 points or more.
Casting Roll: None. Use Innate
Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 1 day.
The caster transforms the subject
inanimate object into a different inanimate object of the same weight. It cannot
shift back on his own; it must wait for the spell to expire or be dispelled. The
caster may only learn the form of an object with which he is familiar. If the
subject is destroyed, it immediately reverts to its native form (which will
also be destroyed).
The subject gains all the physical
attributes of the new form.
Statistics:
Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on objects, -10%; Advantage, Transfigure
Object, +800%; Extended Duration, 1,000x, +120%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased
1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [103]. Notes: “Transfigure
Object” is Morph (Can Carry Objects, No Encumbrance, +10%; Magical, -10%; Mass
Conservation, -20%; Unliving Forms Only, -0%) [80]. This spell costs 103 points
for a racial template worth no more than the subject’s native racial template.
A more powerful form costs 103 points plus 90% of the difference in cost
between the subject’s native template and that of the other form. The caster
may learn to affect more powerful subjects by investing more points into this
spell. Usually the GM should not bother making racial templates for the
objects, so it is safe to say that the spell costs 103 points.
