Monster: Ascomoid

Monster: Ascomoid

The ascomoid is a rolling spherical fungus that launches deadly spores. Some old D&D monsters, like this one, are weird, but interesting and charming in a peculiar way.

Slam (11): The ascomoid typically attacks by slamming (p. B371) and rolling over the opponents (p. B404).
Spore Cloud (15): The ascomoid can spew a cloud of spores at any hex within 20 yards. The cloud covers a 4-yard-radius area, persists for 10 seconds, and may drift with the wind. Any creature that inhales the spores must make an immediate HT-1 roll or suffer 1d toxic damage. Every 10 seconds for 5 more cycles they must make another HT-1 roll to resist or take the same amount of damage. After losing 1/3 HP to this poison, the victim suffers from nausea (p. B428) until they heal above this threshold. After losing 1/2 HP to this poison, the victim becomes blind until they heal above this threshold.
