Alchemy: Medical Elixirs III

Alchemy: Medical Elixirs III

The last four medical elixirs from GURPS Magic. Ointment of Resurrection can bring dead back to life. Potion of Tranquility prevents the subject's emotions from changing. Potion of Youth ages the subject backwards 1 year. Universal Antidote neutralizes poisons.

Ointment of Resurrection
This ointment can bring a formerly living creature back from the dead, if his body is not completely destroyed (-10xHP or worse). If the subject does not want to come back (GM’s opinion, for NPCs), the ointment fails automatically. This subject recovers 60 HP in 1 minute – if this brings him back above -HP before the duration ends, he returns to life! But if it’s not enough, or if the initial HT roll fails, he cannot be resurrected.
Duration: 1 minute.
Form: Ointment.
Cost: $6,210 (singular); $2,235 (5-batched).
Recipe: $621; 221 days; defaults to Alchemy-21.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Accessibility, Only on living creatures, -10%; Advantage, Ointment of Resurrection, +2,100%; Magical, -10%; Ointment, -45%; Reduced Duration, 1/3, -70%) [207]. Notes: «Ointment of Resurrection» is Regeneration (Very Fast; Cosmic, Works on the dead, +50%; Magical, -10%) [140] + Unkillable 1 (Cosmic, Works on the dead, +50%; Magical, -10%) [70]. This version of Cosmic means it only works on the dead – not injured living creatures – and gives one try, ever. Reduced Duration costs -70%, because the Ointment meta-enhancement includes Extended Duration, 30x, +60%.

Potion of Tranquility
This magenta potion grants the subject immunity to all emotion control effects. This prevents him from going Berserk or falling victim to the Bad Temper disadvantage.
Duration: 1 hour.
Form: Potion.
Cost: $630 (singular); $225 (5-batched).
Recipe: $63; 3 days; defaults to Alchemy-3.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Potion of Tranquility, +140%; Magical, -10%; Potion, -25%) [21]. Notes: «Potion of Tranquility» is Immunity to Emotion Control (Magical, -10%) [14].

Potion of Youth
The imbiber ages backwards 1 year during the 5 hours of the effect’s duration.
Duration: 5 hours.
Form: Potion.
Cost: $1,440 (singular); $520 (5-batched).
Recipe: $144; 12 days; defaults to Alchemy-5.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Potion of Youth, +390%; Extended Duration, 100x, +20%; Magical, -10%; Potion, -25%) [48]. Notes: “Potion of Youth” is Unaging (Age Control, Only Backwards, +10%; Magical, -10%; Reduced Time 8, +160%) [39]. Extended Duration costs only 20%, because the Potion meta-enhancement already includes Extended Duration, 30x, +60%.

Universal Antidote
This potion flushes poisons from the subject’s body. In most cases, this can be discovered when the first symptoms show! This potion flushes the poison instantly, after which it has no further effect.
Duration: Instantaneous.
Form: Potion.
Cost: $1,530 (singular); $550 (5-batched).
Cost (Herbal): $1,224 (singular); $440 (5-batched).
Recipe: $153; 14 days; defaults to Alchemy-6.
Statistics: Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Universal Antidote, +540%; Magical, -10%; Potion, No Extended Duration, -85%; Reduced Duration, 1/180, -40%) [51]. Notes: «Universal Antidote» is Unusual Training (Body Control, only to flush poisons) [1] + Body Control (VH) HT [8] modified with 2 x Cosmic, No die roll required, +100%, Magical, -10%, and Reduced Time 15, +300% for a final cost of 54 points.
