Alchemy: Additional Elixirs II

Alchemy: Additional Elixirs II

More elixirs from Pyramid #3-28. Ointment of Dream Walking allows the subject to project his mind into another person's dreams. Ointment of Grooming makes hair fall off. Potion of Greater Healing is a stronger version of Potion of Healing.

Ointment of Dream Walking
By applying this yellow ointment to his own forehead, the subject can set up a two-way conversation with a sleeping person. He then must roll against the better of his IQ, Dreaming, or the brewer’s Alchemy skill. Range is theoretically unlimited, but the roll to use this ability takes the range penalties given under Long-Distance Modifiers (p. B241). If the subject cannot see or otherwise sense the sleeping person, he has an additional penalty: -1 for family, lovers, or close friends; -3 for casual friends and acquaintances; or -5 for someone met only briefly.
If successful, the subject projects his presence into the sleeping person’s dreams to converse with him, allowing “real-time” conversation. If the sleeping person does not wish to speak with the subject, he can break the effect with a successful Dreaming roll. Once broken, no further contact is possible that night. The subject may maintain a connection with that sleeping person for as long as he’d like. No further rolls are normally required unless the range penalty worsens.

Ointment of Grooming
The subject applies the ointment to his hair (beard, mustache, fur, etc.) and has it instantly trimmed as he sees fit. The cut hair falls at the subject’s feet. The haircut is permanent, though the hair will grow back normally and the subject can always get it restyled somewhere else immediately if he doesn’t mind an even shorter cut.

Potion of Greater Healing
This red potion heals 3d HP, if the imbiber makes a successful HT roll. If imbibed more than once per day by a given subject, apply a cumulative -3 per successful healing on that subject. This penalty accumulates until a full day has passed since the most recent healing. This only works for humans and all “similar” races (elves, orcs, dwarves, halflings, etc.), but this potion can be made to affect, for example, animals. Such a potion will not be able to affect humanoids.

Notes: Since the potion is considered to be the “caster”, we do not apply Affects Self, +50% here. Also, because this ability is not based on Affliction, we only take parts of the Potion meta-enhancement.
