Alchemical Techniques
This is a short post with only two new techniques for the Alchemy skill. They may be used either with the standard alchemy system or with my Metatronic Alchemy system. I would also suggest taking a look at Pyramid #3-28 for the Batching, Identify Magical Item, and Identify Elixir techniques.
Fake Elixir
Hard
Default:
Any elixir technique-2. Cannot exceed prerequisite technique. See below.
When
making an elixir, an alchemist may use this technique to add some redundant
reagents that will not change the effect, but will change the appearance,
making the elixir look, smell, and/or taste like another elixir. You must
specialize by elixir type and form and the fake elixir appearance. For
example, Fake Elixir (Endurance/Potion/Lich) will allow the alchemist to brew
potions of Endurance that will appear in all ways as Lich potions. An alchemist
still can identify a potion brewed with this technique, but he may do so at a
-4 penalty.
Selective Elixir
Hard
Default:
Any elixir technique-2. Cannot exceed prerequisite technique. See below.
When
making an elixir, an alchemist may use this technique to make the elixir affect
only a specific class of subjects – humans, elves, animals, all humanoids, or
anything in-between. You must specialize by elixir type and form and the subject
class. For example, Selective Elixir (Endurance/Potion/Animal) will allow the
alchemist to brew potions of Endurance that will only work on animals.
