Monsters: Aoa

The aoa are weird. Unless I am missing something, they were introduced in the 3e Fiend Folio and haven't appeared anywhere else, and I can see why. Even though the concept is pretty cool - reflective mercurial orbs that reflect all magic and dispel magic with a touch, there's not much you can do with it. They can just annoy spellcasters and bump into those who have lots of spells or magic items. You cannot communicate or otherwise interact with them.

    Dispelling Touch (14): Whenever the aoa touches anyone, roll a Quick Contest of Will. If the aoa wins, the victim loses all its magical abilities for margin of victory minutes. Magic items are disabled for an identical duration, while timed magical effects are instantly dispelled.
    Magic Reflection: The aoa’s mirror-like surface reflects magical effects. It reflects up to 20 points damage, two levels of Affliction, or 14 levels of Binding. An attacker unaware that this effect is in place must roll against the lower of IQ or Per, at +3 for Danger Sense and +3 for Combat Reflexes, to realize it in time to get a defense. If the attacker is not physically present at the time of the attack, the missiles are just deflected harmlessly. Do not roll damage or apply special effects until after determining who (if anyone) is hit. This ability doesn’t stop most area effects or explosions, though it does deflect fragmentation damage (shrapnel). The latter is reflected away harmlessly, since it originated from the explosion, not the attacker.
In addition, this ability automatically reflects any magic ability or any gaze attack (including non-magical ones) that affects the aoa directly back on the attacker, who may resist normally.
