Hazards/Equipment: Elemental Hazards

Hazards/Equipment: Elemental Hazards

Dragon Magazine #347 has a very interesting article called Elemental Hazards: An Exploration of the Inner Planes. The article describes various unique hazards, materials, and phenomena that can be encountered on the elemental planes. As a person who adores everything elemental-related, I must convert the article to GURPS. Such features make the Inner Planes feel very different and unique compared to the Material Plane. I've always entertained the idea of running a game set predominantly on an elemental plane, but it would probably be impossible to find players for that.

Region/Dimension of Dreams in GURPS

Region/Dimension of Dreams in GURPS

I do not know when exactly the Region of Dreams has appeared as a plane of existence in D&D, but I know it from the Manual of the Planes for the 3rd edition. In Pathfinder, a similar plane called the Dimension of Dreams was introduced in Occult Adventures. In GURPS, there's the Dream Control psionic power in GURPS Psionic Powers and three dream-related spells in GURPS Magic. Also, do not forget the Dreaming skill! In this post, I will try to consolidate some of the rules and adapt them to GURPS. In the follow-up posts I probably will expand the Dream Control power and create some new sorcery spells for dream control.

Powers/Hazard: Faerzress

Powers/Hazards: Faerzress

Faerzress is a type of magical radiation that suffuses many parts of the Underdark in the Forgotten Realms setting. It serves both as a source of mutations and as an environmental effect that interferes with teleportation and divination. Cool! Let's convert it to GURPS.

Hazards: Extra Fungi and Flux Slime

Hazards: Extra Fungi and Flux Slime

This post will detail two fungi that are somehow illithid-related and do not have any statblocks, and the flux slime from the Epic Level Handbook. Just because. The descriptions are taken straight from the d20 SRD and ENWorld's Creature Catalog (when it still existed; I am lucky to have saved everything that was there on my hard drive years ago) and tweaked to fit the GURPS ruleset.

D&D Taint in GURPS

D&D Taint in GURPS

Heroes of Horror introduces a new mechanic to D&D 3.5 – taint. It is practically identical to the corruption mechanic found in GURPS Horror, pp. 22, 146-128, but somebody still might want to tweak it to have D&D flavor. Let us delve into that, but I expect the delve not to be very deep and thorough.

Supernatural Sea Hazards

Supernatural Sea Hazards

Stormwrack has only a few supernatural hazards compared to long lists of Frostburn and Sandstorm.

Supernatural Desert Hazards

Supernatural Desert Hazards

Sandstorm presents a quite long list of supernatural hazards for D&D 3.5. Here's their re-imagining in GURPS ruleset.

Hazards: Slime, Molds, and Lichen

Hazards: Slime, Molds, and Lichen

Here I convert hazards, such as supernatural molds, slime, and lichen from Dungeon Master's Guide for D&D 3.5. In addition, I convert similar hazards from Frostburn.

Supernatural Frostfell Hazards

Supernatural Frostfell Hazards

Frostburn is one of my favorite supplements for D&D 3.5. One section that I have always overlooked is the supernatural weather and terrain. Now that I do not play D&D 3.5 anymore, I will convert these things to GURPS.

Vile Weather

Vile Weather

The infamous Book of Vile Darkness includes several new types of vile weather. I've always liked supernatural weather effects.
