Sorcery: Light and Darkness Spells

Sorcery: Light and Darkness Spells

Spells that create or manipulate light or darkness always were one of my favorites. Colors will let you change a light's color. Continual Light is a good spell for dungeon delving or earning money working as an illuminator. Remove Reflection and Remove Shadow grant the subjects supernatural traits of a vampire. Shape Darkness and Shape Light manipulate areas of natural or magically created light.

Note: As this is one advantage (Control Light) with the Sorcery limitation, not two, it costs only 1 FP to use.

Continual Light

Casting Roll: None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: 2d days.

When cast on a small object (up to fist-sized or 1 pound) or a small part of a larger object, makes that object glow with white light equivalent to a torch. The light lasts for 2d days (the GM rolls in secret).

Shape Darkness
Keywords: None.
Full Cost: 19 points/level.
Casting Roll: IQ.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Indefinite.

You can control the shape of a three-dimensional darkness created with the Darkness, Blackout, or similar spells, which must have an initial radius (in yards) no greater than your level of this spell. This even allows you to move the darkness, with a Move equal to your spell level. You cannot split the darkness into multiple components – it must remain one continuous area – but you do not have to leave it in a circular shape. You must actively concentrate while shaping or moving the darkness, but may otherwise maintain this spell normally (no concentration required).
This spell also allows the caster to shape existing two-dimensional shadows into other two-dimensional shadowy shapes. Shadows can be reduced in size easily, but enlarging the shadows makes them slightly transparent. The average casual observer won’t notice, but anyone looking intently at the shadow gets an IQ roll to notice that it doesn’t have the “substance” it should. Shadows do not have to remain attached to the objects that cast them.
Statistics: Control Darkness 1 (Accessibility, Only to shape and move darkness, -30%; Ranged, +40%; Sorcery, -15%) [19/level].

Shape Light
Keywords: None.
Full Cost: 19 points/level.
Casting Roll: IQ.
Range: 100 yards.
Duration: Indefinite.

You can control the shape of a light, which must have an initial radius (in yards) no greater than your level of this spell. This even allows you to move the light, with a Move equal to your spell level. You cannot split the light into multiple components – it must remain one continuous light – but you do not have to leave it in a circular shape. You must actively concentrate while shaping or moving the light, but may otherwise maintain this spell normally (no concentration required).
Each level of Shape Light gives the effect of one two-dimensional reflector with length and width in yards no larger than your spell level. For instance, Shape Light 3 would let you route light around obstacles as if you had three mirrors up to 3 yards x 3 yards in size, or block light completely as if you had three 3 yard x 3 yard screens.
Statistics: Control Light 1 (Accessibility, Only to shape and move light, -30%; Ranged, +40%; Sorcery, -15%) [19/level].
