Monster: Grisgol

Monster: Grisgol

This is one of the requested conversions. A grisgol is a magical construct made up of various magical wands, staffs, pieces of armor and jewelry, and wrapped in spell scrolls. It is powered by an entrapped lich phylactery. I decided to make the phylactery a targetable weak spot and make the grisgol's scroll skin combustible. Overall, it's a pretty interesting monster.

Punch (14): thrust 1d+1 crushing (KYOS: 2d+1 crushing), Reach C-1.
Choking Dust: Striking the grisgol with any kind of crushing or cutting attack invites a choking cloud of dust and mold to explode from the creature. A victim who makes a Sense roll to notice the dust in time may hold his breath (see Holding Your Breath, p. B351). Everyone within 2 yards of the grisgol who breathes in the dust must roll against HT or begin to cough (p. B428) for margin of failure minutes. If he fails by 5 or more or fails critically, he starts choking instead (p. B428).
Grisgol’s Touch: Punches of the grisgol are imbued with the deathly energy of the lich that powers it. If a grisgol deals injury with its punch to a living creature, the victim must make a successful HT roll or take 2d toxic damage (ignoring DR) and become permanently paralyzed. The effect cannot be dispelled with Dispel Magic, but can be dispelled with Remove Curse. Anyone paralyzed by a grisgol seems dead, though winning in a Quick Contest of Diagnosis vs. the victim’s HT reveals the victim to be alive.
Incite Madness: After a grisgol is killed, the first person examining the strips of scroll parchment or tome pages that comprise the creature’s wrappings invokes a curse that renders the reader insane, unless he resists with Will. The victim of this insanity becomes convinced that the thousands of scraps of parchment contain great and lost arcane secrets, and that he must discover these secrets by painstakingly fitting every last piece of ripped parchment and torn page back together in the right order. He dedicates every waking hour to this massive undertaking, barely pausing to eat or rest, in order to finish this task as fast as possible. The victim always thinks, and tries to convince others, that he is on the brink of a revelation. His personal study becomes cluttered with diagrams, charts, and plans extrapolating how the pieces might fit together, constantly rearranging them to fit current theories or hunches. In effect, he gains Obsession (6) (Reassemble the scrolls) (p. B146). Once he actually finishes this task, this Obsession is replaced with appropriate Delusions until the curse is lifted.
Phylactery: The grisgol is powered by a lich’s phylactery trapped by the grisgol’s creator. Impaling, piercing, and tight-beam burning attacks may target this phylactery at -7, but only if they detect its exact location with Detect Magic or a similar effect. Since the grisgol is a magically animated construct, it gives off a magical aura, so to properly discern the location of the phylactery, one has to succeed in the follow-up IQ roll. Attacks against the phylactery have a x4 wounding multiplier.
Scrolls: The grisgol’s creator may scribe magical spells on the scroll skill of the grisgol. This process takes 8 hours, allowing the creator to impart up to 40 character points of advantage-based spells taken as alternative abilities. The grisgol becomes able to cast these spells – the casting conditions can be programmed into it, or the creator may just order to cast a particular spell. If the grisgol is burning, it cannot cast the spells.
