Sorcery: Geneforge Shaping

Sorcery: Geneforge Shaping

It's time to fulfill my first patron request - do a writeup of some Geneforge stuff. I played the first game in the series a long time ago, but not for long, because the game decided to wipe my save files, so I got too salty to replay it. But from what I remember, I liked it a lot. I will try to GURPSify it based on what can be looked up on the game's wiki and on the requester's words.

Eggplant Patreon

Eggplant Patreon

Eggplant is selling out! I decided to open up a Patreon page, just in case somebody wants to support me. Locking content behind a paywall goes against my principles, so don't worry about that - there won't be any patron-exclusive content. I have finished, I believe, my "minimal program", so now I do not have any direction. Getting suggestions and requests could help both me and you. In any case, I appreciate any support, and I hope you find my stuff useful.

Monsters: Elemental Grues

Monsters: Elemental Grues

Elemental grues are tainted elemental creatures from Complete Arcane. Their mere presence disrupts elemental magic. These creatures are prized by many wizards, for at the heart of each grue lies a pearl-like magic object, each carefully etched with the arcane workings of an elemental spell suitable for copying into a spellbook. This spell is the only thing that remains of the creature if it is slain. And now we're done with the small bestiary from Complete Arcane.

Lens/Monster: Pseudonatural Creature/Pseudonatural Hippogriff

Lens/Monster: Pseudonatural Creature/Pseudonatural Hippogriff

Pseudonatural creatures are creatures native to the Far Realm, the plane of insanity. They seem normal at first, but when they turn into a mass of writhing tentacles, it becomes apparent that they are not natural creatures. This template for printed in D&D 3.5 three times.

Monster: Dire Lion Effigy

Monster: Dire Lion Effigy

Complete Arcane for D&D 3.5 has the effigy template that can be applied to normal creatures to turn them into clockwork doubles. The sample monster is the dire lion effigy.

Monster: Ectoplasm Elemental

Monster: Ectoplasm Elemental

D&D has several non-standard elementals, and probably the least known of them is th ectoplasm elemental that is found in one of the Mind's Eye articles. Basically, this is an engulfing acidic water elemental that is a bit thicker and thus Homogenous instead of Diffuse.

Monsters: Elemental Monoliths

Monsters: Elemental Monoliths

Complete Arcane for D&D 3.5 has elemental monoliths that are said to be more powerful than the elder elementals, but still weaker than the primal elementals. That's basically everything there is to it - it's just an intermediate power category between those two.

Sorcery: Air Spells VI

Sorcery: Air Spells VI

Even more air spells. Sparks is an area attack based on the eponymous spell from the Might & Magic series.  Aerial Flight and Personal Aerial Flight are variants of the Flight spell that only let the subject fly in the air, but not through water. This is made to make these spells belong more to the Air College than the Movement College. Aerial Entombment is a variant of Entombment and Arboreal Immurement. Resist Air is a defensive buff spell (and a very expensive one). Clean Breath is a useful spell for polluted cities. Shimmering Fields is a stronger, non-drifting variant of Spark Cloud.

Ultra-Tech: Singularity Beams

Ultra-Tech: Singularity Beams

I had an idea of a superscience beam weapon that harnesses the power of the black holes. Let's try to manifest this idea as a new beam option for the Blaster and Laser Design System from Pyramid #3-37.

Monsters: Hands and Arms

Monsters: Hands and Arms

I found some monsters in D&D that are just animated hands or arms. Flying fingers are animated flying fists. Necromancer knuckles are the same, but with selective magic immunity. Crawling claws are animated non-flying fists. Interestingly, they are all constructs, not undead creatures. Dreads are animated skeletal arms. They are undead, not constructs.

Sorcery: Air Spells V

Sorcery: Air Spells V

Let's make some new air spells! Harden Air creates thin, invisible walls. Twister creates a tiny tornado that hurls people upwards. Vacuum creates a momentary drop of pressure. Vortex Ring is a weak area attack.

Monster: Phaerimm

Monster: Phaerimm

Phaerimms are sadistic underground aberrations with innate magical abilities. They used to be very powerful on Faerun until some other mages imprisoned them in the Underdark. Even those who managed to escape imprisonment accomplished such great feats as enslaving beholder cities. Cool.

Monster: Bogey

Monster: Bogey

Bogeys are benevolent domestic fey that do the chores when the home owners are asleep. In the original source they were called boggarts, but they have been renamed to avoid confusion with the other D&D boggarts.

Ultra-Tech: Flight Cybernetics

Ultra-Tech: Flight Cybernetics

Cybernetics in GURPS Ultra-Tech and Pyramid articles does not have anything that allows flight. In this post, I stat up two enhancements based on personal aerial transports from Orion's Arm.

Ultra-Tech: Vortex Ring Projector Design System

Ultra-Tech: Vortex Ring Projector Design System

One of my friends is planning to host a sci-fi game, so he asked me to write something about vortex ring
projectors. VRPs don't seem very popular, even Google only links to two threads on the SJGames forums. However, the concept fascinated me. I treid looking into 3e Ultra-Tech books, but found nothing. Apparently, VRPs appeared in the fourth edition. Then, before creating some fun superscience gases for the VRPs, I decided to write up a design system based on the Blaster and Laser Design System from Pyramid #3-37 - Tech and Toys II. Many formulas and values were changed to fit the VRPs. It's not a blaster, not a laser after all.
I use the post template of TheRyujinLP. Check out his blog for some extra beam/laser design options.

Lens/Monster: Spellstitched Creature/Spellstitched Ghast

Lens/Monster: Spellstitched Creature/Spellstitched Ghast

Spellstitched creatures are undead creatures made resistant to non-magical damage with some
enchantment. They also possess limited spellcasting abilities. Here we have the lens, the example monster, and the Sorcery spell to create such creatures.
In other news, the new Blogger interface is even more awful than before. While in the past fixing formatting after pasting text from MS Word was barely possible, now it seems to be even worse. Inserting images is awful now too. Do people even test these changes?
