Monsters in Karilan, Part V (T - Z)

Monsters in Karilan, Part V (T - Z)

Well, actually it's T-Y. That's the final batch, I finally forced myself to finish this endeavor. Now, after my vacation is done, I can finally start writing new content.

Tallfellow
The tallfellows are relatively rare, and uneducated people believe them to be half-halflings-half-humans or half-halflings-half-elves. The tallfellows themselves do not mind this and sometimes even use this for their advantage. The number of adventurers among the tallfellows is surprisingly high.

Tarrasque
The tarrasque is mentioned in many legends and historical records, its rampages changing the political landscape drastically. Last time it has rampaged in the Thoon Lands, ravaging many mind flayer colonies, and went towards the Savage Lands.

Tiefling
The tieflings spring up all over the world. Obviously, in most places they are shunned, and in some (such as Sifaril) killed on sight.

Titan
Borelius, an evil titan, was exiled to Karilan. Rampaging through the lands where the Iron Theocracy is now, he was stopped by a group of priests and imprisoned in a dungeon underground. Still, some daring people are trying to reach this prison to learn the forbidden lore that Borelius is said to know.

Triton
The tritons have migrated to the Material Plane just in time for the war with the sahuagins. Now, the tritons are reduced to small towns in temperate seas. Generally, they are hospitable to the outsiders.

Troglodyte
Fierce and cunning, the troglodytes are a menace of the Underdark. Nobody like being around them due to their stench, but the troglodytes often raid and rob others regardless. The troglodyte tribes live mostly only in the Upperdark and Middledark, but there are rumors about psychically awakened troglodyte tribes in the Lowerdark.

Troll
The trolls can be found in all climates. These savage carnivores usually eschew weapons, relying on their claws and teeth. Some ally themselves with ogre or goblinoid tribes, but some are as hostile towards them as they are to everyone else. Troll blood is widely used in alchemy, so alchemist sometimes hire adventurers to go gather some.

Tsochar
The tsochari hail from another world in deep, cold space. The elder elves have built a series of gates that connect Karilan with other worlds, and the tsochar homeworld was one of them. Through that gate, these wearers of flesh have infiltrated Karilan, hungering for arcane lore. Thousands of years have passed, and the tsochari have spread all over the world, collecting arcane lore, posing as magic item collectors, infiltrating royal courts, and using all other means of gathering power.

Umber Hulk
The umber hulks were brought to Karilan along with the neogi. They are the most loyal neogi slaves, but wild populations of these creatures still exist. As slaves, they are used for transportation, heavy manual labor, construction work, and warfare.

Unicorn
The unicorns are native to Sitaril, where they defend the forests from the despoilers. They only contact the local wood elves in times of great danger. Unicorn horns, when removed from a still living creature, can be enchanted via an unholy ritual to serve as a single use teleportation items.

Violet Fungus
The violet fungi are very common in the Underdark, and the underground dwellers have long learned how to discern them from common fungi and how to avoid them. Getting poisoned by a violet fungus is considered to be a show of stupidity there.

Water Elemental
The water elementals can be found in almost any body of water on Karilan. Some were summoned by the mages or tritons, some got there by accident through a natural portal.

Water Naga
The water nagas rarely attack unprovoked. Despite that, they are still dangerous beings that can bind minds of lesser creatures to their will. Aquatic humanoids tend to stay away from the nagas.

White Dragon
White dragons are considered to be the least bright ones among the true dragonkind. The white dragons themselves believe that to be very insulting and attack anyone who implies that. Despite that fact, the white dragons have a major presence on Karilan. Albrathanilar, a self-proclaimed greatest white dragon from another world, chose Karilan as a ritual battleground in her fight against Cryonax. Her brood of dragons and armies of white dragonspawn advance from the Northern Reaches, threatening not only Cryonax, but every other living creature in the world.

White Pudding
These oozes are almost invisible in their natural polar habitat, making them very dangerous to anything living there. The polar dwellers carry a piece of meat or a large vegetable to use as a distraction in case of encountering a white pudding.

Wild Elf
The wild elves belong to the wood elven race group that lives in Sitaril. They are quite barbaric and tribal, living separately from the wood and jungle elves. Experts at camouflage and ambushes, they are invaluable as raiders against the neogi.

Will-o'-wisp
The will-o’-wisps are malicious beings that can be pleasantly surprised by a thing as simple as talking their language. However, their native language consists of blinking, so very few can talk to them that way.

Winter Wolf
The winter wolves live in the northern parts of Indaril, where they often ally with the local frost giants. Mistaking one for a mundane animal is a mistake a person makes only once.

Wood Elf
The wood elves live in Sitaril, separately from the wild and jungle elves. Being the most civilized ones among the three subraces, they build cities, conduct magical research, and have organized armies. Still, they listen to what the representatives of the wild and jungle elves have to say and coordinate many actions with them.

Worg
The worgs are sentient wolves that often associate with the goblins. Some serve as guardians and mounts to them, and some use the goblins as food. The worgs have their own language that, obviously, has no written form.

Wyvern
The wyverns live in the hills of Kes, Amrado, and Haa-Donai. Many attempts have been made to use the wyverns as mounts, but none of them had any success.

Yrthak
The yrthaks are native to the Goliath Holds and the Thoon Lands, posing danger to both goliaths and illithids. The mind flayers are fond of enslaved yrthaks that serve as blind flyers that employ their exotic abilities to wreak havoc in enemy lands.

Yuan-Ti
The yuan-ti are the descendants of the ancient Aventians that had their bloodlines tainted with snake blood. After the fall of Aventus, the surviving yuan-ti fled to the hot jungles of Malassiril. However, they were displaced from there by the black dragons and to this day live in the Underdark, where they are considered a major power on par with the drow and the duergars.
